Rapala is another old brand as well but that’s a lot more popular than the mepps. I’ve caught 3 and 4 pound large mouths on mepps aglia. They are amazing for all species of fish

It's well known nearly everywhere and actually one of the best lure you can find, i live in France and i've caught more with this than any other lures, from bass to zander, or even sea trout depending on the model you use. That lizard rig is old school, I myself am old school and they have been selling those prop rigs for decades. They make one with a worm on a prop rig also. I've caught a lot of fish on them. Mepps is the original maker of the rooster tail. In fact I'm pretty sure they are the only company who can call them rooster tails. They have been catching fish longer than I've been alive. That's why mepps says they are the #1 lure, everyone has one in their tackle somewhere

Cool vid, thing is though, if a lure like that mepps or that cream soft plastic rig is in a place like walmart or other stores, good chance it's a proven bait. Both cream rig and mepps have been around for decades, probably at least even the 1950s . My dad has caught a number of bass on a worm version of that cream rig. And in my opinion you can't go wrong with a good inline spinner from any brand, so long as it runs right, even my homemade ones. I have rigged small plastics like curl tail grubs, on the back of some of the inline spinners I've made, and landed plenty of fish, in a river not far from me. It's fun when you never know if you're going to pull out a pretty little pumpkinseed, bluegill, yellow perch, white perch, chain pickerel, or bass. There's some monster pickerels in that river too! I guess some lures we're not familiar with , will seem kind of weird to us. I've got cheap packs of multiple rigged curl tail grubs on jig heads, from walmart, and they worked fine. They have some ones with black and gold glitter, that I'd use for crappies after dark.

I’ve got one of those in-line spinners that is similar to that Mepps lure. Mine is made by southbend but it is the same concept. It’s works great. I’ve caught sand bass, largemouth and stripers on it.
