Yep. This whole episode (and maybe the whole show later?) is Loki coming to terms with the fact that he's not the hero of the story, it's not even his story, he's just a villain intended to progress the protagonists' development. Cue existential crisis.

The TVA is in another Universe. The infinity stones are set their own universe. Take an infinity stone out of it's universe, it's worthless. Darkseid once put on the infinity gauntlet in the DC Universe and guess, what? It didn't work.

The TVA is very meta. New Rockstar and Heavy Spoilers do good explanations of them. In the comics the are a bit of an inside joke to the writers and editors. In fact Mobius in the comics is drawn after the Editor for Marvel that was responsible for continuity between comics. The TVA does not exist in the universe at the end of time so rules don't work there. Think of the TVA as the creative room at Marvel making sure the story fits. Maybe its now meta for being Feige and his creative team getting ready for the next phase and needing a little chaos or Loki to make new stories interesting.

People have to understand the Time Keepers are only concerned with the forward flow of the sacred time line on its one set path. If Thanos wants to wipe out 50% or 99%, as long as he isn't creating time branches to do it, then anything that happens is of no concern to them and mortal lives are trivial to them. It will be a similar thing for the Eternals and the Celestials. Also it said they fused the multiple time lines into one, not that they all "agreed on" one. So I took it literally as that. Also, yes, the D.B. Cooper thing.. well Thor and Loki are thousands of years old. It was them in our 1970s. Great reaction, had a good time. And good job paying attention and remembering a lot of relevant things from past Marvel movies that had a connection to this episode. I feel like you're one of the few reactions I've seen so far that made me see a thing or two I didn't think about. Thanks. 🙂

Ahh ok so the time-keepers then are only invested in the end goal? Whatever happens in-between is of no interest to them as long as it doesn't cause the timeline to split off if I'm understanding?

@@MACReact If what the little cartoon thing and all the TVA people say is true, which it appears to be seeing as they have somehow magically exceeded the maximum number of infinity stones that should exist, then yes, they serve the Time Keepers who are only concerned with one thing (thus the plane of existence of pure beurocracy that exists as proof of that) which is to resist reliving their PTSD fear of mutliversal war. The reason I think magic and infinity stones do not work here is because it is as Loki said, "is this the greatest power in the universe?" It appears to be that it is.. only such a place, I imagine, could house multiple dozens or more of infinity stones and unlimited access to all of space and time and existence. These are just my best observations and hypothesis as of the end of episode 1.

@@MACReact Also notice how quickly the TVA cops show up when Loki creates a branch in Mongolia to apprehend him. Now think about why that didn't happen when any of the Avengers traveled back in time for the time heist. "That was supposed to happen," says the judge. Now what I don't like here.. is yes, Loki is bad, but it's not exactly fair he is getting punished for this crime for simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time. He didn't initiate any time crimes he was aware of. I think it is being insinuated low key right now that the Time Keepers are corrupt and the one time line thing is wrong or immoral. Because who tf are they to judge that what the Avengers did is allowed and what Loki did was not, like wtf??

Think about it, the avengers did, and always intended to return the stones the moment they were taken. No new timelines made. But loki took an infinity stone and was not going to return it, thus new timeline. Thus, violation.

So my theory, and I've been assisted by a ton of weed. I think what we're being told is that the TVA isn't in the MCU, although I guess we should be calling it the Marvel Cinematic Multiverse now, so MCM, but the TVA oversees the MCM and in a meta sense our own as well, so in a venn diagram, the MCM and our own universe would both be entirely inside the TVA If that's more or less correct, then within the entire timeline of the MCM then the infinity saga we've witnessed is just a tiny part of the history of the infinity stones, they will have been stolen and wielded by different entiries countless times, and created numerous branch universes that the TVA decided weren't correct and wiped out of existence, and in the process confiscating infinity stones from countless time criminals, and because the null time zone ('where' the TVA exists in the comics, so I'm assuming we're at least going to refer to it the same way in the MCM) doesn't exist in the MCM, the infinity stones have no power there, they're involved in the MCM because for whatever reason they came into existence at the big bang. This is also why magic doesn't work there, because the magic in the MCM is explained as manipulated dimensional energy between universes, but the TVA is outside of that so there's nothing for magic to draw on and manipulate. Anyway the variants. I assume that if something leaves a branch timeline to "the sacred timeline" before the branch is pruned, which i assume means just wiped from existence as opposed to reset, which i don't understand yet, then the variant continues to exist apart from its branch and this is how the other loki variant exists At some point they ambushed TVA agents and escaped its timeline before it was destroyed. And because the TVA exists outside of MCM time and space, I feel like the multiversal war that Miss Minutes tells us about didn't happen in the past in terms of where we are experiencing time in the MCM (roughly 2023 i think?) but is coming, but the TVA can see all of time, it has already happened, is happening, and will happen, and the TVA are trying to correct the sacred timeline and stop this mutliverse of madness from ever happening, even though to them it has already happened, but to us hasn't happened yet. Oh yeah and the reason TVA agents were so easily dispatched, the variant loki just set fire to one set, and stabbed a bunch of others tells me that the TVA basically sends agents that "appear" as the dominant species of whatever planet they're one. We're seeing humans because Loki was picked up from Earth and Asgard is gone so the TVA all appear as earthling to Loki for basically ease of understanding, at least that's my explanation for it. It also makes me think that the TVA agents are basically hyper advanced nano tech that can appear as biological to primiative technologies, so if they're killed on missions and an advanced society, say like ours, doesn't find something weird. And it's also why on processing at the TVA, they screen out robots that believe they're not robots. some rogue, or brainwashed TVA agent that somehow is escaping the TVa's oversight can't sneak back into the null time zone, it'll be destroyed on entry even if it doesn't know it's mind controlled or whatever, and can't sabotage anything. it's why they can destroy a cart full of infinity stones and the only person who gives a shit is the guy who was standing too close to it and thought he was gonna get hit. Oh yeah and I believe that the D B Cooper thing is Marvel saying that Loki was actually visiting our universe in the 70s for shits and giggles with thor. and another thing. Brilliantly by Marvel, it means they can keep the Loki character in the MCM forever. If and when tom hiddleston wants to retire, bring in a variant and hope audiences love them as much. They can have loki appear to cause trouble, or help out in whatever arc they want, and then have another season of Lok with whatever new Loki exists working for the TVA to track down another loki variant and perhaps introduce a successor to do the bidding for the TVa and then realize the TVA is bad and escape them, only to get hunted by a new TVA employee loki variant who works for the TVA and then realizes they're bad and escapes them and is then hunted by a new TVA employee loki variant. forever.

Man you just blew my mind right now. This Loki show is already reminding me of things like Blade Runner, Arrival, and Contact. I was also wondering why all the TVA employees are Terran in person since we know plenty of alien races so you might be right about them being some super-advances race. The DB Cooper thing was genius because like you said they can go back and have Loki doing all sorts of mischievous things throughout our history. I can't wait for more answers and revelations in the coming episodes.

I'm also a stoner lol and more or less everything you say has somewhat occurred to me. And yes, I understand "pruning" to mean exactly what it means in gardening. To remove the "branch" completely. So essentially they are killing/erasing these "new born" alternate time versions of ourselves when it happens. This is the part that has occurred to me that makes me think the TVA might not be as neutral as they appear. The right to be judge, jury, and executioner..? Is that okay?

I think it's probably safe to say this is the beginning of the end of the sacred timeline and the start of the eventual multiverse after Loki creates some chaos. Also, seeing yourself die after 'turning good' probably means you'll scrap that whole life path
