You know, I've always defended Loki. Before the movies I would read the myths and I saw he was blamed for everything, even if it wasn't his fault. Loki, he just wanted to belong and he was used because of it. Odin corrupted Loki's world by providing a false family, the only ones who truly loved him were Thor and Frigga but it didn't matter, the damage was done. Growing up in a shadow of glory, never being able to do something better than the golden child, every accomplishment you make drowned in a tiny stupid act by them, being FORCED to take blame for so many things, things that even happened before you were born. Take a moment and think about this scenario, you've done something amazing, you have a solution to a problem that could bring peace to so many people but then the one you call your older sibling messes up everything, they cause an even worse problem and even though your solution could loosen the blow you are not listened to. Instead, you are scolded, told that if you had done something to stop them it would have never happened, that it's all your fault. Now imagine hearing that for YEARS, never getting away from that. Who wouldn't rebel, who wouldn't take a chance to prove you are worth something only to be told that once again you are wrong and that it's your fault the world is the way it is. It can destroy person from the inside out and the only reason I know is because I too grew up living in a shadow. So take a moment and think, after all you would probably do the same thing, wouldn't you?

Well I've always felt sympathetic towards the Loki of Norse mythology, as well as the Loki played by Tom Hiddleston in the MCU however I don't feel sympathy towards the comic Loki, who is a horrible being. Tom has given the MCU Loki copious amounts of dimension to his character to make him more than just Thor's adopted brother enemy

I was first born so I was loved.... As a child... Only a child. I didn't meet my real dad until I was 5, granted, at that time I had a pretty good life. Then a younger brother came into the picture, I was no longer the youngest and the oldest, not the center of attention. At the time, I really didn't care then came along... /him/ LORD I HATE HIM!! So I went to my dad's for the summer, when I came back my brother's dad had taken him away. i never got to say goodbye... I never even got to say -goodbye-. And it KILLS me to this day I haven't been able to talk too him! But when he took away my brother, my mom leaned on her BF. And.That.Destroyed. Me. I had NEEDED *HER*! YET SHE LEFT ME FOR HER STUPID BF WHO HAD LET ME STARVE!!! THINK ABOUT THAT FOR A SECOND! HE LET ME STARVE AND DID NOTHING ABOUT IT AS HE WATCHED ME CLUTCHING MY STOMACH AND TEARAS POURING FROM MY EYES AND NOT ONCE HAS HE EVER SAID "SORRY" HECK! MY MOM DIDN'T EVEN CARE!! So my brother left, my mom left, so I had my friends at school and oh yippe... Can u guess what happened? I GOT SWITCHED OUT OF THAT SCHOOOLLL!!! So I lost everything in a matter of a month. I killed me, I will never we a good too, outside, always wanting to play child again. Even if I still can, THEY DON'T CARE ANYMORE! "You're a teen! Start doing stuff for yourself" Im depressed! It went away from months but now its coming back! Since I called that they wouldn't care about me once I hit a certain age! They pretend to care now! Now all they say is "do it for yourself!" And yes! That's apart of life! But when you have it reminded to you every single hour it, its just stress, and stress and stress and then having NOBODY to talk to?!? You start to go insane! It only hit that point once when I dropped a glass cup for basically the fun of it. Literally my life story up to this point, but I dont care if U complain for me saying this. Its always nice when nobody responds in a mean why but hey, im drowning out my sorrows and if I get hate in response so be it But yes, If I had the chance to prove myself, then I would take it and do what I think would be right. ( But seriously! ALL A AND ONE LOW D AND ALL SHE CARES ABOUT IS THE D! ONLY THE D! THATS JUST! Not everyone can just have straight A's! And all she cares about is the one D I had! I always found the scenes with Thor and Loki as boys to be a little forced, like obvious exposition, but using them the way you did here right before the shot of Loki free-falling past the end of the bridge and then back to Odin holding their hands? Immediate tears. It connects the dots in a natural, emotionally-earned way. Well done.

For once, I'd like to see the cunning win something. Why does Thor get a whole movie about himself? Another generic story about a "sporty guy" getting the girl? It was dull as Hel. I've studied Norse mythology; Loki is traumatised in those legends. Yes, he's an utter git, a manipulative so-and-so, cutting off Sif's hair and stealing the gods' golden apples, but he ends up chained to a cave wall and has venom poured into a wound that never truly heals. Thor helped the Gods chain him. And Loki shakes so badly that he causes earthquakes on Midgard (Earth). Earthquakes! What the heck, Thor? :O Even in Marvel, a modernist take, Thor is still a bully. He's hot-headed and stupid, and he never asks after Loki's ambitions. Why do people like Thor, honestly? Gods, I hate Marvel sometimes.

I think he was implying to Thor that he did it for either Thor and/or Frigga but I feel like secretly he meant he did it for himself because of his plans to take the throne.

in Thor 2, he has already realized that chasing after odin is stupid and futile, by thor 2 his focus is on thor and being treate and seen as at least of equal importance to thor

Iluthra I think he meant in Avengers and in Thor 2 I think he was meaning he didn’t invade Earth and then help Thor for Odin in Thor 1 I think he did it for himself and for Odin’s approval though
