I love Lok. He's original since he's pretty much the only Tech KZbinr NOT talking about the DJI FPV Drone right now haha. Bravo Lok. Well done and I'm interesting in that new bag & tripod now :)

I dunno how I feel about these larger companies offloading some of the “new product” risk to crowdfunding. I was always under the impression these sites were for startups without the budget for launching good ideas. Now big names are using the sites as a means for preorder. Just seems like the wrong use of crowdfunding, but I’m just some goof on the web I dunno that side product launches.

@@BurritosarebetterthantacosThis type of crowdfunding is trade for discounts. If one isn't sure, don't join and wait for real world reviews. I don't buy in just coz of FOMO.

In the current environment, using crowdfunding is to gauge demand thus the size of production run. If their goal really is to minimize waste, this would help minimize overproduction, with excess that sit in warehouses for years. Just my guess.

@@DixonLu A bunch of people got stuck with the Peak Tripod despite being unhappy with it because of the indiegogo campaign. I saw a bunch of their comments while researching it. The problem with this particular model is that the specs are lower than the series 1 its based on yet will be $200 more. I hate to be a devils advocate but the shiny silver may not be a good idea while traveling....subdued is much better unless you want your $800 tripod stolen.
@DixonLu3 жыл бұрын
@@Burritosarebetterthantacos Still not clear why people jump into these, knowing that Kickstarter and Indiegogo are not retail platforms but mini VC and beta-testing platforms. Both warn people of the risks, e.g. not ever getting a product, not getting a product as the campaign intended, etc. Did we stop teaching Caveat Emptor in schools?

This is my first time watching your videos. Please make more because you are easy to listen to. You are enthusiastic and informative and I really appreciate the time you took to make this video. I was between this tripod and a Peak Design travel tripod, and I think I will get this one. You helped my decision.

Are you sure that the warranty covers loss of small tripod parts and the backpack against tiger attack. The website says "defects in material or workmanship"?

Couple of things. That magnetic flap makes it really easy for thieves walking behind you. And if you want to stop readers on your cards, not that it's an issue as you need to be a registered user and it's easy to trace, just put some standard kitchen tin foil around it, no need to pay others to wrap tin foil around it for you.

Gitsos' lifetime warranty must be in answer to all quality control problems they have had. After several returns my systematic legs kept falling apart and I ended up getting rid of it. I just hope they have returned to the quality of the past. My favourite tripod is a manfrotto with an arca swiis head...

Lok, you can't make up how long ago when you were in college. I have something for you 20 years ago Nikon F5, yep it is a film camera, now challenge is any Nikon lens to fit on this camera even a modern one. I don't know if all of them works. I know Nikon SB700 flashgun didn't work well with this camera.

Great idea but a couple of problems: Before you rush out to buy the setup check the price! Also a bit odd to say we save the planet by making things however eco-friendly. Surely a more morally responsible attitude is to keep using your present tripod or replace it with an used unit - I got both my ancient Gitzos that way - and why not? If a tripod is built to last then surely one should utilise that fact?

I like what they're doing with recycling and making their products not being a waste. But it's expensive. I'd rather buy the lens I wanted and cheaper tripod instead.

Any bag that can be easily accessed by people stood behind you is a massive no no. You may as well advertise yourself as open for bag dipping. Get a Ruitbag and put in a PD cube. Job done.
@Burritosarebetterthantacos3 жыл бұрын
Not to mention your going to travel with a shiny metal tripod that can be seen for a distance and is clearly expensive. It is a calling card that you have other really expensive shit in the bag too. Theres a reason Leica makes subdued cameras and thats because its better to blend in with expensive gear. I honestly think they are off the mark on this package and it will primarily be purchased by loyalists and not any true travelers.
@thegeneral1233 жыл бұрын
@@Burritosarebetterthantacos Well said, I've got enough space in my Riutbag X35 for a large PD cube and by moving around some of the dividers, I can easily fit my Vanguard CF travel tripod in the bag. Along with my X-T3 some high end glass, my A7ii and a Sigma 24-70, loads of extras etc. With plenty of space for spare clothing, laptop, tablet. The package is completely hidden. It's just another generic looking black backpack. Plus all the zips being against your back, dipping this bag is practically impossible without you noticing and it's very slash/cut resistant as the material is very heavy duty. Even if they did manage to cut the bag with a razor blade. They then have to get through the Peak Design cube padding with a bottom of bag attack. Or a back of the bag attack and cut a big hole. Which you'd notice 100%. Most though would be looking for a blatant high value bag and this bag screams "owner has money, oh and camera gear".

@@thegeneral123 If the tripod had been completely flat black Id be all over! Sounds like we travel much the same way. I have a Wandrd backpack which is nice because theres an access pocket at your lower back for passport ect. Take care.
