Nah, it was fun because it wasn't full of retarded champs with a quadrillion dashes and heals and stuns and hidden passive mechanics just so the company would make an extra amount of profit on it. There wasn't Yasuo/Yone/Viego/Kayn/Akshan/Naafiri/Yuumi/ Aphelios and there wasn't a shitload of true damage dealer champs either. It was slower, farm mattered way more and there wasn't any "WTF just happened" oneshots where you didn't even know what happened to your character. There wasn't any runes that made 3 times your actual damage. The community today still has zero clue what to do they are just better mechanicly but the guys back then at least had an excuse for it.

@@jackcarver1492 I agree with most of it, there were "one shot" champions, but you needed to be fed. Snowball was a thing (and it was good because a good player deserve the win) and also without the stupid trash "comeback mechanic". Runes were an investment, masteries were slightly impactfull. Game was "SOMEWHAT" p2w but skill mattered more (also you can always otp and buy 1 rune page only). And yeah, champions were simpler. It is required today that the gameplay change and refresh with years, but yes last 5 years champions are stupid as hell. Rek sai and Kindred were the last ones not broken for my sight (at their release, not the ones we have today).

Yeah I remember when you had to actually talk to your teammates other then just being passive agressive with pings. When someone thinks you can read their mind because they are pinging you I always ask in chat "what do you want? Use your words, I can't read your mind". Sometimes their pings doesn't make sense, because they use them irrationally and all over the place, like me just minding my own business and they still ping me??? Modern League players are essentially Gen Z raised on tablets and smartphones so they cannot communicate for the life of them. Sorry but I was raised by my actual parents... I'm honestly so fucking glad they finally changed the ping system so you can't endlessly spam ping and such, the people complaining about that change I think are probably the same people who abused that system to be passive agressive to begin with.

I want to try OP builds that found out about too late to try them myself. I want to apply concepts that I learned later and see how they apply in the older versions of the game. Maybe it will suck, maybe it won't. All I know is that with classic WoW I actually got to try all those things and I'm still enjoying them 4 years later, albeit not as hardcore anymore

I remember the first time I played, my brother started it. I was at university at that time and used to go to the internet cafe in my spare time. I played Renekton for the first time and was told to go top lane. I was pressing random buttons. I didn't even realize what I was doing. Then I started playing Olaf and at one point I got my first kill. I was extremely happy. Damn, that's when my Lol adventure started.

actually back then most players knew exactly how every champion worked because the OG players had to play every role on an equal level. back then you had to play what was left as last pick since you couldnt choose a role beforehand. it was pretty impossible to focus on one specific role. every single day i had atleast one game on each role. all on a plat level besides adc which i really hate to this day so this was just about gold level.

I was 7 years old when I started playing League. The year was 2010 and I remember calling my friend on my moms phone and playing with him. We didn't care about winning, having good cs, wave management and all that stuff, we were just having fun. @@FlyAwayTooHighToday because of the extremely long games in Dota. I haven't played in about 4 years, but back then a match of Dota could easily last over one hour, sometimes even close to two hours. And you also had the ability to completely solo carry the whole team, if you had picked the proper champ. Fundamentally, Dota was better. I can't say if it is still today though.

yeah, back then this was my view too, nowadays league has evolved so much more than dota ever did. the lenght of dota games happened, because people had no clue how to end games and ganks are easier to pull off than in league so pushing towers was always a high risk for low elo gamers. a high elo dota games has around the same lenght as a lol game, but has the potential to exceed this by far. @@dimitriasimov2140

This is simplicity itself, the champions with very basic passives and abilities, the items, the runes (which you had to buy as you were playing and progressing on the game), the ambience sounds (just take a good listen of how the wind whistles from time to time, the jungle sounds too, the map... Everything feels so alive compared to now, even the colors and the design of the map... I really miss this game (and yes I say game and not version, because this is completely different from current league, they changed the whole code and everything...). Which is more sad is that this is lost, we could never play this back...

There's nostalgia to it but league today is a lot more "Balanced" than this version. This was the wild time of figuring everything out and some things were truly game breaking and just unfair or silly to the point balancing couldn't be done so removal of things were instead and the fluidity of game play now is just smoother. It was an AMAZING time but league today is a much better "Game". Still would play it now though.

Game was so good back then. Pretty balanced, everyone was bit OP in its own way which actually made game fun. Slowly Riot started to make game more "balanced" with new champs, then slowly nerfing and reworking old champs and 10 years later we got to the point where game ain't fun anymore and Riot also does not care about game anymore much except money. Boring game with so many cheaters and falling off player base.

I would so so much love to play this League again, it actually was the superior game. Now it is way too arcade-y everyone 50 dashes, "fUn mEcHaNiCs", everyone true damage in some form somehow, % health damage on everyone, these weird plants that i still hate to this day, Shutdown Gold galore that punishes you for doing good, Tower Platings just randomly getting money from towers, because hey, more free Gold, Dragons that give random buffs which can completely throw out the game, Elder Drake that allows the team that gets it just to win... Back then the Game had structure, now it is just an ADHD Trip.

"Shutdown Gold galore that punishes you for doing good" shutdown gold is designed to allow players to have a chance to get back into the game. So the game isnt a complete 1 sided stomp. it also makes the player who is snowballing have to actually think and not just mindlessly push their lead. "Tower Platings just randomly getting money from towers" tower platings reward skilled players for early pressure and strategic wave manipulation. They also give early heralds much more value, incentivizing early objective play. In turn making the game more dynamic and fun. Tower platings are arguably one of the best additions to the game ever. You lack a fundamental understanding of the game, and are just spewing buzzwords at this point. "everyone 50 dashes" yes, the game is more face paced and has a much higher skill ceiling than before. skill expression is a good thing, youre just an npc. "true damage in some form somehow, % health damage" this is to prevent people from stacking resistances and becoming completely over powered. The game would essentially be a wet noodle fight. "these weird plants that i still hate to this day" literally quality of life updates for the game. Giving players more mobility, sustain, and vision control. All can be utilized by skilled players to add even more depth and skill celling to the game. "Dragons that give random buffs which can completely throw out the game" yes, considering their is only one map. the game has to have some rng elements or else it would become stale and the game would die. Dragons also incentivize more strategy and team play. Instead of just giving a small amount of set global gold to your team (outdated and boring) Elder Drake that allows the team that gets it just to win: exactly. Elder drake is a great object that allows the winning team to successfully close out the game. Without this and baron, games would go on for way too long, ruining the player experience (no one wants every game to be 45mins to and hour long.) Elder drake also allows the team that is behind a chance to make that hail mary play and get back into the game. "Back then the Game had structure, now it is just an ADHD Trip." the game is extremely structured and very well balanced considering the amount of variables that it has. Again. you are an npc and you are not critically thinking for yourself. Im assuming youre watching some streamer or youtuber who is telling you how to think. tldr get better kid and use your pnut brain :]

League was objectively a better game back then, more calculated, and having become more fast paced was one of the most unhealthy things that happened to the games health. - it takes effort to get gold and items are expensive - mana is relevant and you have to spend it wisely - one spell = one thing - no rune or item procs everywhere - you don't wanna quit the game after the first tiniest misstep because you have sustain and time to come back Remember Keystones 2nd patch ? Every game, 9 Thunderlords, ring a bell ? That was the day Riot and the community joined hands into never making this game strategical or slow-paced again.

Fiora was the most fun champion to play (if you played like an absolute psycho). Double dash, Insane damage, and a physical damage AOE ulti which made her immune to damage, cc, etc. She HARD countered Rengar, just by pressing W and blocking the empowered autoattack, which used to instagib any squishy. She was very good mid lane against mages too. The only problem was playing against Pantheon top lane EVERY game.

If anyone ever asks you for an example of "damage creep" in League, just show them the fight at 28:30. Pantheon has 2 health items, is in the middle of the entire enemy team and manages to last 10 whole seconds. If you tried this today as Aatrox with 2 health items (standard Meta build) you would not last 2 seconds. This is why early seasons were fun. There was time to think and strategize. Now, you dive the enemy carries, you get caught by any old hard CC, you're dead. But I guess "slow" games are not as cool, and don't provide fodder for cool multi-kill montages, so we have to have the game we have now.

Started playing at the end of S2 and S3 was, basically, my League childhood. One of the main things why I quitted the game many seasons later (apart of being banned for flamming) is the fact that my favorite champions, like Pantheon here, got reworked into a mess of 900 passives, skillshots that dash perpedicularly to Venus' orbit. It was a much more cohesive, laidback, simple and straight to the point game, and strategy was much more important because everyone didn't had 10 dashes and 4 passives in every skill. Riot killed this game.

I still have nightmares of fighting old panth. Point and click Q poke. Point and click stun. Rediculous early game damage. Think you were safe under tower? His passive blocks turret shots. And he can reset it with his stun. You didn't try to win vs pant. You were happy if you went 30 cs down with only 1 death.

I first played League in 2011 just after J4 was released. Good times, but as others said, it was good because it was a learning experience. The metagame took many years to be fully baked in, and that's the game's only downfall, is that everyone learned the optimal way to play and it's tougher to get into the game cuz of it.
