I mean most games from big companies are enjoyable on some level, even if they fail at what they were trying to achieve, so calling them shit is a bit unfair. This is one of the reasons why I like this channel so much. So many game channels feel like they don't actually enjoy games, they just complain and poke fun at games, but there's never a deep dive into what the game is, what it's trying to achieve or why it fails. A minor thing with Balan vs Nights, the human characters in Nights have a triple jump but Balan doesn't. Wild to me that the 30 seconds of human gameplay in Nights has more variety in movement than Balan Wonderworld does

As much as I found Balan disappointing I must admit that I liked some aspects of it, like the story and visual art style. It was very unique. However I'm afraid that when a game is "bad" then everything is considered bad in it, so developers will get scared to make such innovation and stick to the same crap.

Yuji Naka games have this uncanny creative purity to them that helps me overlook certain flaws in the overall gameplay or story; like even though it's janky I can see what he was going for, embrace SOME of the jank, and appreciate what he did right I haven't played Balan yet, but the Sonic Adventure games on Gamecube had some hidden depth/mechanics behind the jank that people nowadays appreciate, so if something similar happened to Balan it wouldn't surprise me

I hope that the creator and artists are still happy, as it heartbreak me for the work they did as I can see a true wonder and awe of generosity and beauty into their soul, I hope that at least this game artwork can inspire others and at least still give them a smile, I really hope to hug them and funny thing is, that I never even played a sonic game as well. In regards to this game, it appears there is also a book describing literally the entire story from before the game, and that the main selling was really to making a story with no words and a game with a simple style of buttons, yet then allowed to some issues to remain and appear unusually bafflingly odd. Before I continued I also wanted to as that someone did 6 days ago spoke and told about the book that being "Austin Eruption" But I think your friend may have done it earlier too! I adore that Thor decided to in a curious manner heck the creators previous work, trying to find connections to it and contain a "feel" to It It is both unique while also being helpful to give and at least note at the interesting parts of the game, as I fear that when people review "bad games" they mostly just skim past so much, and give it an almost eternally evil and negative aura. So thank you for being one of the many few people that reviews properly the game, like the true reason that a review should be

It's a shame it didn't turn out better for Naka and his team. Grew up a Sonic kid, and NiGHTS is my favorite game, as it was the one that planted the seed in my mind that vidya games could be art. Well, being 11 when I first played it, made feel something other than gratification and fun. So when a dude who was involved in some fave memories and profound developments in a fertile mind, sad to see a new project not work out for them.

I've just heard all the songs too much and I just don't wanna hear it now. btw, not sure if you've played it, but Rodea's Wii version is actually pretty sweet. It's actually got one of the most innovative ways to use the Wii's pointer, and it sucks that it came out 4 years after it should've.

I kinda love old-timey musicals, specifically. Y'know, the Fred Astaire ones, the Olivia Newton-John ones... I think there's some weird kind of charm to them, like... the idea of people breaking into song to talk about their joys and woes blends well with the (allegedly) more innocent times gone by. Modern day musicals feel a bit silly, tho. But, alas, the world is split between people who love musicals or people who hate them. Astaire love in unexpected places! The dance class sequence in "Swing Time" is amazing isn't it? Those two danced the shoes off each other. Still visually impressive. As much as it is fun. There's definitely an appeal to Balan hidden underneath its BS. Every time I see it, even when being viewed under a very negative light, I kind of want to try it out. Too bad Square pulled the demo so I can't do that. I could shell out 60 bones, but I'd really only be willing to pay half of that to play this honestly.

Believe it or not but they did the right thing to remove the demo, the Camera and the Movement in demo are terrible which they thankfully improved with a day one patch for the final game. Its plays much better now imo. :D

I understand and agree with the musical hatred shared at around the 20 minute mark, but I've recently realised a musical thing I really love; Flight of the Conchords. It's a musical comedy tv show about a two-man-band from new zealand trying to make it in new york. It's not jarring like most musicals, the music is in all different genres and actually somehow fits in the urban environments of the show. Oh, yeah, and banal wendelwind or something idk I haven't played it

Before the demo was released I somehow got this mixed up in my head with World End Syndrome because of the similar artstyle, so it wasn't a dislike of the game itself - I agree wholeheartedly with the lovely nostalgic feel of it - but I honestly thought it was one of those horror games disguised with a cute veneer for the first chapter, so I spent the whole demo waiting for the other shoe to drop and then it just... stayed wholesome. Which was great for me since I didn't want my adventure to actually be interrupted by death game shenanigans at that point, but still a bit anticlimactic. XD
