I feel like hair bleaching tutorials on youtube have gotten so much more expert based and sophisticated in the last couple of years. I only wish that this info back when I was bleaching my dark brown hair platinum blonde at home myself! I'm back to my natural colour now and it took me so long to grow out, that I won't be going through that all over again because I've been there done that and the novelty's gone.

I recently started bleaching my own hair at home with zero experience with bleach or even hair color in general. After many years and spending thousands of dollars having my hair professionally done at the salon, and still NEVER getting the result I was wanting I took to the internet. I’ve spent countless hours reading tips and product reviews, and countless hours watching diy videos. Practicing on myself with A LOT of trial and error I do a better job each time. Yet it’s never quite right. But omg girl!!! This is hands down the BEST video tutorial I have ever seen!!! You did such a fabulous job and your color is what my hair goal has been for over a decade now. You explained everything perfectly!! I have A LOT of hair. And it takes me a long time to apply the bleach so I can never get the processing times correct. Your explanation of how to use different strengths of developer, where and when, just changed the game for me. I feel like someone just turned the lights on haha. Using the different strengths of developer the way you do makes all the sense in the world and after watching this I was like, “yes of course! Duh!” Yet I never thought about it myself 🤦🏼‍♀️ Thank you so much for making this video 🙏🏻 You are my hair goals hero 😍😍😍

as a licensed professional myself, i applaud you for doing your own hair!!! keep up the good work! i support people who color their own hair when they do their research on it. some people sit in my chair at the salon that clearly have not done any research, and it takes hours to fix. when i wasnt licensed i used to do my hair myself as well (yes, doing the whole double process too!) and it was just so much more fun

I am so very happy to finally find an Australian hairstylist who uses products available here, so thank you so very much Lola. I use the Blonde Me products at home, I’m not a hairdresser but I only have pixie length hair that refuses to grow after my double mastectomy a couple of years ago. I would love to see more videos on how to use toner properly, how to select the right colour etc etc. I am a natural level 8 but have always bumped mine up to the same colour as yours, and right now I would love to be looking like that. I wasn’t paying attention with my toner on the weekend and have ended up with a really yucky and mucky colour that has a lot of red in it which just look plain weird on me. Can’t wait to see more of your videos! Love and support 🇦🇺 ❤️

For processing time, is the 30 minutes with the lightener (stage 1) from the time you start or when you’re whole head is complete? And then with toner same thing, is it 20 minutes from when you start or after whole head is complete?

Thank you so much! It worked out great me for. I bleached my hair twice using Clairol Born Blonde Hair Color and ended up with very orange hair. It was expected since I had jet black hair and hadn't colored it for more than 10 years. After watching your video and getting the necessary supplies my hair color is exactly what I wanted it to be, and I saved myself so much money by doing it myself. I must say it was easy for me as I have short hair. I wouldn't even consider it if I had long hair.

This was awesome to watch! Your hair lifts super fast like mine does. I am not a hairdresser, but I have been bleaching my own roots for over 10 years now. I made my own three-way mirror using hinges and some small mirrors with wooden frames so that I can see the back of my head. I even have lights on my mirror to make sure I’m not missing anything. Now I want to look online to see if I can get that lightener in the US because I am fascinated by how it stayed wet and didn’t swell up like a balloon and crack like a powder everywhere like the one I use does! Mine does a great job of lifting, but I feel like because of the swelling, some overlap is inevitable 😖

Like it is so unnecessary and unwelcome when I’m trying to watch a demo and get solid information for something serious like bleaching my hair and the person in the video is busy making faces at me looking like a retard or trying to be funny in an attempt to be more entertaining, (which fails) which they think is making their video more charming I guess, and it’s not needed and this video is proof of that.

Omg! I'm older and have been going blonde for years but I've never seen anyone do such an amazing job pulling up (bleaching) their own hair. I have a very dark natural color as well (that tends to pull red), I wonder if your natural tones have anything to do with it pulling up so beautifully, maybe not b/c any brown has to go thru orange & gold to get that level. Truly Amazing 👏🏼
@Chloevien

I mix in additive in color Ash from Blondme in my bleaching (my hair tends to pull orange), depends on your natural color you maybe need additive. On Schwarzkopf official website, there are some examples from experts how to bleach your hair. I followed one of those examples, one thing is differennt though, I mix 7 and 20 volumes for my roots just like she did for the front section, because with 7 Vol didn't work and with 20 Vol was to harsh for my scalp ( I have natural dark brown black hair) and my hair turns out great everytime.

Bleaching is an art. You want to come a long way before you get it right. I have a bob, and I re-touch every two weeks with Syoss-products. They work for me. I used to be dark-brown, and it took me about a year to get rid of the reddish hues which do occur. Whatever you do: don't resort to anything too radical when you start. Take it step by step, and start put in winter, when you can wear head-scarves and caps indoors without too many puzzled stares. I'm MM-blonde now, and my originally dark hair is strong, shiny and smooth. Good video, this is!

Heya🌸 yes so the roots will always lift up much lighter & faster than the rest of the hair which is why I always use a lower strength of developer on those area’s & then a stronger one for the mid lengths... I hope that makes sense 🤞🏽🥰

@@lolakait i’m planning on going platinum soon, i was thinking of using 30 vol on my lengths and then use 20 or 10 on my roots the next day (or vice versa - quarantine life, no one will see me) is that the same as what you did except you did yours all in one go? my hair is around 20 in and its so much easier to do your roots when your hair is dry instead of trying to separate the sections if its saturated with bleach🤣 hope that made sense

Heya! Yes that makes perfect sense 🥰 Sounds good, try a test strand first, just to make sure that your hair can handle 30vol but yes, it should be great!! 😍✨

@@lolakait yeah i’ll need it because i’m going white! do you think i should do roots first or lengths first to avoid overlap? not sure if it makes a difference😅

Results look great! I would be scared to death to do this all myself so props to you! I’ve been platinum blonde for many years... loved me a good ash toner too, but I think I’ve had my fun and I’m thinking my 5 years being platinum is coming to an end. Going to dark hair this summer and I’m really excited for the change 👩🏻‍🦳👩🏻

You did a great job! Awesome technique. BUT, I’m a licensed hair stylist and I have a few tips… 1) NEVER wash your hair prior to bleaching it because it strips your own natural oils that are there to protect the hair. Bleach eats right through hair products and oils 2) NEVER apply bleach to damp hair because it dilutes the mixture 3) NEVER EVER comb through your hair while it’s got bleach on it because it causes breakage. Bleach is strong and your hair is vulnerable while it’s processing so comb tangles out bf applying it

How did you manage to get your roots darker as they were as bright as the rest of your hair before toning? Did you use different developer there or just the time difference made that effect? It all went out so beautiffully it was pleasant to watch!

Thanks so much! Yes so it was the toner that I used, it evened out the lightener & darker tones to an even colour 🥰🌻

When you apply toner to the roots first, it means it stays on a little bit longer than everywhere else, so you also get more deposit, which can result in a natural shadow-y root effect without using 2 different toners

Omg! The use of different strengths on different parts of the hair makes so much sense so you can bleach it in one go! lol I’ve been doing diy bleaching a lot and I couldn’t ever get it even 😂 so I have to redo some parts.
