I only have ❤ for this woman. i wish i could thank her for all those lonely and sad years of my life where her music gave me a reason to live and be happy. still to this day, there is no other voice like Mrs Holloway. It's incredibly shameful that she did not receive the credits and praise she deserves.

@@veganvocalist4782 Actually your comment makes you sound like your knowledge is pretty limited. Ride On Time was produced during a time when sampling (and house music) was still a pretty new thing so there were no clear laws on it. Plus dance acts like Black Box in that era were just mostly young people making music in their bedrooms not big time industry trained producers signed to big record labels "attempting to steal vocals for their own gain". They just made dance tracks and find acapella's that work with the dance track solely to work on the dancefloor's of nightclubs...but in Ride On Time's instance it became a big club hit then crossed over and became a massive commercial hit and once it got big and started making money the people who owned the sampled vocal (rightly) wanted a slice of the pie. Maybe learn a little about things yourself before calling others stupid then you wont look so silly to those of us that know a little bit more about it all

Black Box, in addition to not crediting Loleatta Holloway, or the song writer, Dan Hartman, on Ride On Time, also didn't at the time credit Martha Wash as a singer for them either for Everybody Everybody or Strike It Up (C&C Music Factory similarly did Wash dirty on Gonna Make You Sweat.) Even though Black Box made a great tune and they managed to keep the negativity out of the news it's an enormous dick move of Black Box and/or their management. I was quite disappointed when I first learned about how they handled it. They were forced to re-record the song using the vocals of British singer Heather Small because of Loleatta Holloway suing. Black Box did her and Martha Wash dirty. The model they used in their videos was a horrible singer in real life. One of the high points of those great years "back in the day" on the dance floor was dancing to one of Loleatta Holloway's records. That voice just melted the disco ball and electrified the dancers. My fave was "Hit and Run", but "Love Sensation", "Runaway", and others set the clubs on fire too. Is it not obvious how corrupt and sneaky the music industry was back then? That industry has always been a slippery, deceptive greed machine. Many artists got ripped off. Unfortunately it's probably still the same today, even with this cheaply made crap people are making on laptops. Dance music has never been as good since they removed the soul and gospel vocals. Current dance music sounds like exactly what it is: tech head "producers" sitting in front of a screen saying "OK, Bob, this is where we add the hi-hat and tambourine.": If it sounds artificial it's because there is no humanity in the mix. Loleatta Holloway, Martha Wash, Jocelyn Brown, Audrey Wheeler, (and let's not forget Sylvester!) were the greatest voices in dance music. What's been missing from dance music over the past decade or longer? SOUL and PASSION.

Black box was basically just a compilation album of stealing the voices of talented women. They stole from Loleatta Holloway and Martha Wash

Well you know '89, '90, and '91 were the INFAMOUS years of studio groups being put together with good looking people with actually no singing abilities. Milli Vanilli and Black Box are prime examples. Back then, people rarely looked at the linear notes to see who was credited for songs and who wasn't. Good music but bad business :'-(

Sadly it wasn't any better in the subsequent years of the 90's and onward. Producers just learned *new tricks* with auto-tune and studio mixing. Milli Vanilli and Black Box just got caught with their pants down. Others didn't and deserved to. The producers and record labels learned from this and decided to switch to half-truths instead. Most of the time even *part* (as in 5-10%) truths. There were *tons* of "singers" in the later half of the 1990's - even world famous names - who did "sing" on the recorded songs BUUUUUT the producers and studio technicians used other "no-name" singers (with *real* talent) to sing the difficult parts where a steady high voice was needed. They then mixed the voices together using auto-tune and *voila!* , you've got an "amazing voice". So the credited artist did "sing" the song but it was *dramatically improved* with auto-tune and incorporating parts from actually talented singers. That's what I mean with part-truths. Auto-tune was introduced in 1996 and was already in use by 1997. By 1998 several "hit artists" used it. This is how a talentless Disney Channel host with very little singing talent became "the next big thing". I don't need to mention her name but she's a 100% manufactured and pitched product whose 15 minutes of fame was stretched out for 15 years when she should have been another flash-in-the-pan or flavor-of-the-month. I actually saw a documentary of how they did this. It was a real eye-opener even though I suspected something like that happened. Wish I had recorded it. "Back then, people rarely looked at the linear notes to see who was credited for songs and who wasn't. " And they do so today? Hate to say this but 90% of all people are *utterly ignorant* to who wrote a song originally (this is especially true for the countless of covers which exist) and even though they have access too internet where this can be looked up in 10 seconds they *still* don't do it. Worst of all are the zealot fans of a particular music group. I take great joy in informing them when some "brilliant song" they believe was made by a band actually is a *cover* . I provide links and credible evidence and see their world crumble (if they're cult-minded) or their eyes open (if they're open-minded). "Good music but bad business :'-(" . And today we have Bad music but good business. Again. Milli Vanilli and Black Box got caught. Others just learned trick of how not to get caught. Nothing has really changed. Btw, back in 1989, 1990 and 1991 there *were* artists who made dance music but *openly admitted* where they had taken all their samples of and even had the decency to keep their identity secret behind masks.

It is an Italo House. People have no idea what Italo House was. Italo Djs and disco producers at a new level. House plus diva voices. Italo House was one of the first Euro House in Europe and changed the European dance scene with Black voices.

As of today's date 02/18/2023 I thought the lady called Katrin Quinol the one in the videos was the real deal who sang the song n I till today I still play those songs. Am so sorry I even did not know the original owner had passed away that is how deep they hid her from fame. They were so greedy that they did not want to include her. May her soul rest in peace.

Loleatta Holloway (RIP), who was about a 110 lbs heavier than this model, Katrin Quinol, is the one who sings this song. She was upset that they didn't give her credit and rightly so. They eventually settled with her.

So basically, the dude who wrote the original song and the two labels all agreed to screw her over... They settled financially about the copyright and revenue sharing of the two songs, after removing the Ride on Time version with Holloway vocals and re-releasing it with another singer. The sad thing is that the best version of Ride on Time, with Holloway vocals is not available, and that the amazing singer got no credit and compensation. I hate labels...
