The Lollar pickups sound like you have a small amount of distortion added. It seems too much for Neo Soul but perfect for blues. The previous pickups were more smooth and whatever you were doing to cancel out the noise was working perfectly on the KZbin videos

I have Lollar Blackfaces in a strat, vintage Teles in a Tele and Imperial humbuckers in 2 Gibsons and a PRS. They are all absolutely fantastic pickups and have been a very good improvement in these instruments. No exception.

Lollar drive tones sound fuller but I prefer the Texas cleans.

Great video. I'm faced with a similar choice with my honey flame Custom Shop Strat w/ maple/rosewood neck I bought about 13 years ago and I was considering the Lollar 64 set with the Special S Bridge to keep the warmth in the middle and neck and more power and drive in the bridge. Difference here is I had a JB Jr put in the bridge for the power amd drive over the fairly plinky stock bridge pup. It's a beast but too mid-rangy and being humbucker it doesnt allow theboutnof face position on the bridge side, which is a big loss for me and my style so I'm thinking the extra power for rock isnt worth it thus the Lollar consideration. My take on yours is the full Special set isn't creamy and warm enough in the middle and neck so my thought on their hybrid set was reinforced. You're a great player, you'll know what works best for you. Maybe try your old pups with the Special S bridge if youre not happy. Those old.pickups sound great.

Both sets of pickups sound nice. The Fender ones have more color and warmth in the midrange and the Lollar's sound cleaner. Its a matter of personal preference and application. The Lollars do a good job of emulating the vintage strat sound. The fenders do not, by choice i assume.

I have a Suhr-custom SSS with the Lollar Dirty Blonde set and "My Tone Search" ended with the Lollar's. I can get: SRV, Gilmour, Knopfler, Trower, Hendrix and Nile Rodgers tones. oNe LovE from NYC

The lollars sound better in every aspect in my opinion. What about this shielding process, does it eliminate the hum?

Really great demo, it takes a lot of work to do a good a/b comparison for pickup swaps! From what I can hear, the Texas Special CS pickups are more mellow while the Lollar Special S pickups are more articulate.
