LOLLAR PICKUPS - Humbucker Comparison

I recently bought an Austin made Moniker tele-style guitar with two of the best gdmn pick-ups I've ever heard. So this afternoon, i pulled them out, and low & and behold, i saw "Lollar Imperial Neck." I absolutely love them. They're the best pick-ups I've played or owned.

Did you put in 1 megs for the db, or is that what it sounds like with 500k pots?

In the instance of this video, we left the 500k pots in for a more apples-to-apples comparison. They tend to be more articulate, touch sensitive, and open sounding with 1M than they do with 500k. It's really up to player preference though. I have a Les Paul with a set of dB humbuckers and 500k pots because that guitar is used for playing thicker music, like stoner/doom and similar genres. It's throatier, woolier, and darker than it would be with 1M pots. If it were used for a wider range of styles and sounds, I'd likely swap them for 1M to open up more tonal options. But, I knew what I wanted from that specific instrument and went with the 500k because they met that individual need very well.

El Rayo wins easy for me. The bridge tone is open and a little slappy and splashy for a humbucker.

Yeah, we really didn't want it to sound like just another PAF style humbucker. There are plenty of those in the world already. The idea was to try to create a pickup that had some flavors from various styles of pickups, all together in one.
