They ended up getting so much right yet so much wrong. Really hopeful someone at least makes a mod to bring back the old music. They lost a ton of tracks because of licensing. But the rest of the game is nearly spot on. Its a bit darker and grimier in appearance than the original at times, but honestly that doesn't bug me at all. And the original used to be one of my all time favourite games back in the day.

I always liked Jon Holmes' (not that one) interpretation that the game is about agency and objectification - Juliet's boyfriend is literally object-ified, becoming a useful tool and commodity with no agency of his own for most of the game. Put next to Juliet's more traditional objectification, which most people are used to and don't even notice (beyond maybe rolling their eyes), it shows the double standard in how we expect[ed] men and women in games to be portrayed [in 2012]. It's not a *subtle* message, and quite clumsily executed. But the developer did come out and say "That's it! That's what we were going for" after the fact. Who knows if that was their original intent or something they glommed onto later, but it's an interesting take nonetheless.

I think because people's biggest issue with the game was just the combat, and even making a more modern version would still have some of its charm lost because it's such a relic of its time. They'd want to keep it in its bubble of early 2010s and I get that. I'd LOVE to see the absurd extreme satire of the 2020s but I feel like no gamers would be happy because they'd either call it too woke or too offensive...when its original purpose was to be both comedy and commentary anyways.

I have it on PS3 and still take it for a spin sometimes... If there is a cult for this, i am that proud cultist... First of alL it was a fun game, and had imaginative creativity to make things work, Exampe: she needs to be talking to her boyfriend throughout to show their love and reationship and also, to give out expositions, but he cannot just hang around when she is fighting, well, but he can literally hang on to her as a talking head, that is also a unique signature trade mark of Juliet starling, it's clever, and stylist, not to mention badass as heck!! As for the complaints some reviewers have had, well, you need to keep playing and perfect your skills to really enjoy the gameplay, it does not have any jankiness or control issues, I never faced any (though i admit i found it tough to play the 1st time) but with practice I found it challenging but fun and all achievement were well earned... I bought all the moves and all the bonus factors, You get an HP increasing lollipop after intervals so you keep your bar full, but let me tell you, when I was in my 3rd play (and henceforth) I would hardly loose the last two of the lollipops on the HP bar, every time I reached the energy pop... I even learned to time the roulette, did you do that? I could mix and match moves and make relentless and efffective (not to menion beautiful) fight choreography.... I would time the "Star-soul" power and plan it to use it the most effectively, without wasting it when it was full and filling it again before the next more drastic battle... I bought all the moves, all the songs and powerups, and then the costumes... The story though short has an arc and yes, i agree the game is short because i feel it ends up too soon leaving me wanting for more. Wished we got a sequeal, I wanted to play at least a section as "Cordelia" as a sniper. and I love Juliet, she is a badass, while being pure of heart and equally soft at heart for whom see cares for... Her anger and cheerful laughter are well placed and adorably acted... I am so glad they did not change her appearance cause that is her identity... Just so you know my other favorite games (which as a habit, to perfect my play and gain all trophies and achievement I yearn to master) are God of war 1,2,3, Resident Evil 4, The Last of us 1 and 2, Uncharted 1-4, Sniper Elite 4, Max Payne 1-3, Batman Arkaham asylum and city, Sleeping Dogs, Tekken 5, Sniper Ghost Warrior, Lara Croft tomb raider Underworld, Lara croft Tomb raider Legend, Tomb raider 2013, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Saints Row 4, COD, Resident Evil revelation, Need for speed hot pursuit, among others...

The remake is kinda harsh. So many of the devastatingly important tracks were lost because of licensing. They really should have focused on boss fights and at least the iconic use of Mickey. Not to mention all versions are ungodly buggy right now. I played through it and it's fun but it lost so much of its charm. I'm desperately waiting and hoping for someone to make a music mod for PC so I can play through it again. Lol. Still worth every penny I spent on it regardless of the bugs. Being able to play this at all on my Steam Deck is really cool.

I love this game. I platinumed it all those years ago and I am super excited for RePop. Its super fun to play, doesn't take itself seriously at all. Its just good vibes with cooky characters in a completely absurd world. One of the more memorable moments is one of the bosses is a punk rocker and you fight him on an abandonded stage and he will yell things like F***!! Y**!!! and You B****!! and the letters spelling the worlds fly from him to hit you. Fantastic good time. Play it if you haven't yet.

I know this game is getting a remaster/remake later this summer but it will always bother me how the original is just stuck on 7th gen consoles. Unless you emulate (which is what I had to do). The emulated version is probably the best way to play anyway because it's 60fps. Anyway this game has so much personality and charm it wasn't really afraid to make a raunchy joke and stick with it. It's absurd in like the best possible way. Literally Grasshopper's best selling game to date and gets treated like the ugly step sister. Hell Even No More Heroes 1-2 aren't even on PS5 and are stuck on the PS3 as well.
