Lemon dish soap is safe for plants, in fact it’s what we use to bring our plants back inside to winter over after their summer vacation and can be used in garden as well. You can dilute it with water and water the soil and spray the leaves, it will kill bugs in soil etc. Then wash the whole plant through with water and rinse leaves. If you find it recurring you may have to go to the extreme and change the soil in pots and wash down to roots because the soil maybe infested & they are just rehatching. Try the lemon soap first it’s inexpensive and works like a charm usually, no harm or impact on plants or soil. Good luck!

How wonderful to catch up with your patreon supporters. I never thought to put cheese on crumpets - honey yes, and cheese on muffins/toast. Definitely going to get some and give this a try. I imagine with cheese dripping into all the holes it would be rather yummy. Love how creative you are when it comes to cooking. It's very inspiring.

Try scraping off the top 1cm of soil and binning it. Add some fresh soil. Don’t over water, you can get a moisture meter that you just stick in to the soil to see if it’s dry/damp/wet so you know whether or not the plant needs watering x

For the plants with the flies around them the problem is going to be that they lay eggs in the soil of your plants. So the sticky things work on the adult flies that fly out but doesn't do anything for the eggs and larves in the soil of your plants. I would advise to get some product or some algae to treat the soil of your infected plants. As long as the soil doesn't get treated the eggs and larves will continue to fly out. What I do with such plants is treat the soil with algae, water the plant less, because the larve love wet soil and cover the top of the soil with gravel, that way the larve can't grow out aswell and become the little annoying flies. re. Houseplants & flies Put some sharp sand on top of the soil. They can't lay eggs in it as it's too dry so it breaks the reproduction cycle. I have found not over watering is good aswell because the ones at my house loved water! Also, Gardeners World says gravel mulch is the solution and I know a friends swears by this too x

Your brother in law’s Lego! Oh wow it’s amazing. Looks great altogether on that shelf. I got my daughter the Lego bouquet kit. She’s put it in one of those fish vases ( Glug?) It looks so cool.

I am being invaded by those teeny flies. I think they came off some oranges that was brought in? I don't know if it's the same but look up getting rid of fruit flies.

Hi Lisa, I have had those little flies on my houseplants before I believe they're likely fungus gnats. The sticky things do help to kill them but check you're not over watering. I always feel the soil to check I'm not watering already damp soil. The best thing I've done to remove the issue is to bottom water, stops the top always getting too wet! I just fill the sink and put them in there to soak up what they need from the bottom! Bit of a faff at first but I'm in a routine with it now and it's no bother. I hope that helps!
