For everyone asking what it looks like streaming, it doesn't really mess with anything. Twitch and KZbin both seem to add black bars to fit the stream into their default compression resolution. Not sure if you can set it up any other way, but it seems to still be watchable using these setting while livestreaming.

This is so helpful! I have a potato for a PC and some of the "newer" methods take away from my ability to record lag free and I have to play super laggy or lower bitrates but this seems to really allow me to keep both quality and performance so thank you for this. This is actually a genius method. I was originally thinking to use two recording programs. Your method would save the hit to the performance on pc AND save a little on the file sizes.

@@qscapes3675 Go to yur settings. I believe its in audio. Set up track for each thing u are recording. But keep in mind. U need at least one track u dont mess with at all to record everything.

Thank you Lollujo! Being totally new to the game we have been having some issues with things like this. We managed to record just our faces or just the game with several other suggested methods, I will give this a go on our next recording :D. Hopefully a much less fuzzy face cam incoming!

the crop seemed not the best solution i guess , the project still so heave as it still consider it without crop when you preview . this is great method to record but not edit , maybe having two windows of obs 1080 is better choice i gonna test it out thanks to the comment above mentioning it

This was very useful, had an issue recording on the bigger canvas but needed to change the recording output encoder from Hardware (AMD) to Software (x264) and then it worked. Also using davinci resolve to edit so the process to edit is slightly different but got it working to look the same as yours (with a bit of googling to work out how to crop and transform). Cheers for this as I couldn't work it out based on your previous video.

Another way to make them individual without having to crop and having that extra border when sizing and moving it, just move the desired side of footage to the center and nest the clip!

@@gems_iii in adobe premiere there’s a tool called “nesting” which whenever you make a change to footage you can “nest” the clip and it makes it it’s own clip like a blank slate with pre-made changes!

Mine seems to lag a little when I do this. Usually don’t have webcam issues. But this when I trialled it. De synced bits from webcam and video audio even though it never has that issue.

Hi! Thank you so much for the video, it was super helpful. I want to run 2 instances, one for streaming with all of my overlays and one for recording so that my camera is separate from my gameplay, but I've run into an issue. I can't get my webcam to work on both instances at the same time. Do you have any idea how I could fix this?

for some reason, my webcam is automatically cropped to a square in OBS, ONLY in OBS mind you, it's normal everywhere else. i searched it up and had to manually change the resolution/FPS type to custom, then set the resolution to 1280x720 which fixed the webcam.. but now the screen recording quality is horrible. idk what the hell to do

As someone that seemingly spends a large proportion of their life down KZbin OBS rabbit holes having things explained to them by obnoxious teens speaking at 100 mph, to watch an OBS video specifically on FM was a treat. The video mentioned using an Elgato capture card with the M50. I currently use the recently released EOS webcam software from the Canon website to plug the M50 directly to the PC. Are there specific advantages to using a capture card instead? Apologies for such a niche question.

My understanding is with the Canon software it’s limited to 720p. That might have changed since they released the software though.

Will the OBS Settings video include how to setup the Display Capture scene for recording gameplay. I think OBS will work for my channel and the reason it hasn't is because I have been doing the setup wrong, so that would really help. Cheers!

So, how do you separate the audio from the video? I want to have game audio and mic audio on separate channels if possible.

on the off chance you never found a fix for this. in OBS click on the three lines in your "audio mixer" dock then click on "advanced audio properties" you'll be able to select which audio track records your microphone, gameplay, etc. Also, go into your settings and when you're in the "output" section go into the recording tab and make sure the audio tracks are enabled.
