This is essentially the test and inspection procedure for a garage/ workshop or shed with a ring. I have encountered redundant shower circuits converted into lollipop corcuits for loft conversions. Makes sense and saves having to draw additional cables fom the cu. You're a top fella Dave I appreciate the time, effort & knowledge you put into these tutorials. Thanks

I wonder if some electricians would install a 4mm² radial from the junction box 6mm² cable if they didn't want to install a ring circuit from it. Do you know if it's OK to do that aswell?
@learnelectrics44022 жыл бұрын
If you want to keep it as a radial circuit, just install it as 6mm or 4mm in one go, never mind the junction box. Treat it as a simple radial circuit then.

Thank you for the informative video. I have a question regarding the documentation of test results in the test result sheet. Specifically, do you document the individual ring main readings (r1, rn, and r2), or do you only record the combined R1+R2 values for both the radial circuit and the ring main? Since this is not a final ring main, I have some doubts. Best regards, Izzy
@learnelectrics44025 ай бұрын
Izzy, good question. If you know exactly where it changes from radial to ring and you can access it, you might want to test and record the separate readings. Often, the junction is difficult to access, I would record the R1+R2 at each point of use and record the highest value. As long as you have tested and are satisfied yourself that the circuit is safe and within parameters, no-one is going to beat you up. In your professional opinion, you have recorded honest readings. You can always make a note in the comments section saying what you have tested. Anyone following you will then know exactly which tests were done. Hope this helps. Dave.

Hi Dave, I have my level 2 exam fundamental inspection and testing coming up, do you know of any new mock exams available? Also what will the difference in revision be for the level 2 fundamental and the level 3?
@learnelectrics44022 жыл бұрын
Haider, level three will be more technical with more calculations. Check with the training centre or college, they should be able to provide you with the relevant info for the exam you are sitting.

Thank you Dave Always learning something from your channel👍. Q) what certificate would I use
@brianhewitt86182 жыл бұрын
if installing from new then you use an installation certificate (EIC) and its important to make it clear or a note that its a hybrid circuit as this aids to justify the higher reading you will get

These circuits can be very useful if done correctly, I would like to see how you would certify these, do you like me split the circuit into two parts, for instance Circuit .3.A (Radial serving Ring Final) .3.B (Ring Final) Lounge. or something similar.
@learnelectrics44022 жыл бұрын
I would combine the results on one line and then in the contents column make a few notes on what is there etc. There is nothing wrong with attaching a hand drawn sketch to the schedules. Dave.
@anthonyjones57112 жыл бұрын
@@learnelectrics4402 There was an article in Connections magazine. I think it was back in April 2014. Just looked it up on the NICEIC web site and it's the only one that is unavailable. I always add lots if notes etc to my certificates to help anyone who works on an installation after me. I use NICEIC online certification. Thanks for all the videos. Tony.

Unfortunately the 4/6mm thats usually at the consumer unit, is usally no where to be found, i mean the location/Jb that connects to the ring final... so if there's a fault its almost impossible to solve and will require a rewire.
@learnelectrics44022 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately that is often the case, especially if its non sparkies or can't be bothered sparkies that do it. Even harder when its an EICR on a house when it was done before the current owners bought it.
