The music being half Star Wars half Indiana Jones fits quite well with this game. I mean Cal is basically hunting down a treasure and exploring tombs like Indiana Jones... or Nathan Drake... or Lara Croft... but he has a lightsaber.

The Force unleashed broke that pattern. There have been lots of different stories in that universe. They're not all the same.

It always appears hard for the writers in a SW RPG game to balance things at the start: the lead character has be appear competent without being OP as most Jedi are. The usual method is to show them as initially being impaired in some way and that they're relearning their skills. eg., in KOTOR 2 the Exile's connection to the Force had been damaged a while ago; in KOTOR 1 the MC had, umm, had some memory problems... in this case it's a Padawan who's been successfully hiding himself for so long he's forgotten large chunks of his training.
