That part about crossing genera's and using jazz in metal and vice versa is solid advice and a good example of why you should learn a bit of all genera's.

@@malcolmlarri8236 It's not technique, it's all learning chops. The guys with techniques studied for years and they came from jazz and the blues. These guys are pathetic when compared to them, and you know who I'm talking about... Vinny, Dave, Peter, Steve...

You have managed to entirely miss the point, and show how little you know about jazz and music, in general. Stanley Clarke who, incidentally, has played with Smith, Gadd, Weckl, Colaiuta, HAND-PICKED Mitchell. I think Clarke knows a thing or two about jazz past and present, and he's shaping the future, as well.

@@ico8272 literally Mike has studied soooo many different styles of music, he would not be able to pull off the stuff you’re hearing without the insight he has from this other music, I’ve been lucky enough to get a lesson with him and he is able to offer so much wisdom and direction regardless of your genre or drumming style, I really can’t stand the ignorance some people in the drumming community are so proud to possess.

@@believeinittobe Yeah he gave him a chance but Mitchell didnt last. What does that tell you? Lenny White knows.....
