Y'all youngsters!!! My second daughter was born in 1997! Sheesh! This lomo camera has a little more robust look to it, I have had a number of lomo plastic-fantastic models in the past and they barely held up with my 'geriatric' shooting style!!! Well, I guess that I'll order one and then, dangit, I'll have to get married again so that I have somewhere to use it!!!

In a world of verrrrry similar new plastic cameras (Kodak F9, Ilford Sprite, AgfaPhoto, etc...), it's so cool that Lomography put time into creating a truly classy little thing. I love the design, and the surprisingly feature-richness of it. Great review.

The Lonesome Crowded West was released by Modest Mouse in 1997 so yes, a very good year. I love the cheap 'black plastic' look that tries to look more expensive than it actually is. Reminds me of Hanimex point and shoots. I'd love to see this stacked up against the cult classic Vivitar Ultra Wide and Slim; a point and shoot that feels as light and cheap as McDonalds smoothie cup but takes shots like no ones business. Good to see you back dude.

1997 was the year I bought my first Lomo LC-A, and I recall that I bought it in part based on the glowing reviews of the quality and sharpness of the lens. Much was made in reviews at the time of the supposed connection between the Lomo company and the Russian spy network. The LC-A’s lens was said to be derived from the sharp and fast lenses used on spy cameras. Combined with the LC-A’s ability to shoot long exposures in dark conditions, the lens can produce some very good low light images. Bottom line-it’s not a Leica, but the LC-A isn’t a bad camera, either. Used correctly, it will produce nicely focused, sharp, saturated images.

I‘ve been a lomographer since 2008. and while I appreciate them releasing a new plastic all-purpose camera it seems a little counter-intuitive with 35mm color film being so hard to get and being ridiculously pricey. Apart from that, there are so many other cameras doing the same, from monographische as well. It might be a good cam for newbies. Doesn’t really tingle me. I‘m waiting for the new kickstarter project from NONS cameras with their new instax mini slr chassis. Giving me the opportunity to use my Nikon lenses.

Thanks so much for the video! I’ve got a question, when you look through the viewfinder, is the image rectangular and does the view fill the viewfinder? Or does the image look far away, circular, and only fill less than half the viewfinder? I recently received mine and the view through the viewfinder seemed weird to me. As if the prism was reversed. I recently contacted lomo and was told this was “normal” 🤷🏻♂️ and am curious what your experience has been. Thanks so much!

So would you typically shoot ISO 100 outside and 400 inside? Thanks for the video.
@InAnInstant2 жыл бұрын
You certainly could use 400 speed all the time, but 100 is a nice option to use mid-day! The narrow aperture makes it so that 400 may be advisable for even shady or overcast situations to limit underexposure.

Art by mean of trial and error..... let’s try X,Y,Z and if I am lucky something interesting will come out, I am sure that for some it’s fun, people have had all sorts of fetishes since the dawn of days. There’s still some reasoning behind the madness of shooting medium and large format film, the same for traditional dark room printing, lomography is the equivalent of playing music on a damaged instrument that’s impossible to tune up.

I love more traditional photography, I also love the Lomo vibe. I get what they are doing and I like the lofiness, but the buildquality of the Fisheye 2 was just ... garbage. And not in a charming way. Like the first 5 shots needed to be taken very quickly after eachother, because otherwise it would just unwind. And it was just tóo cheap to be properly usable honestly. Developers hated having to make prints, they would prefer to just develop and let me scan it in, because you would get some weird spacing in between frames especially at the start. No reviews mention that kind of things though as far as I could see back then. How does this compare on a scale from Fisheye 2 or Recesky TLR to decent camera like anything mass produced like an Olympus Trip? I would like to give it another try with something like this. I think 21mm is also a really fun focal length.
