Awesome shots! I do really like the colors on the film. I had been hit and miss with them before, but love that it's an actual new film. It's interesting seeing film reborn into something new and not just limp around on dead stocks or a handful of films that were popular before digital.

Hey thanks much for the shout out. Your images came out perfect. They're not too drastically different in my opinion. After shooting it and seeing your results do you think you would make any adjustments for the next roll or leave it the same?
@theoldcameraguy5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for not copystriking me for stealing those snippets of your video! As far as adjustments, I might shoot a roll at 400 like you were talking about (especially since some of my cameras won’t do 320).

Awesome review! I really dug your images. They have a real classic look. I’m gonna have to buy some of that, though I’ll have to be fairly judicious, given the price. I’ll have to do a review of my own on the Gen-X Photography Podcast once I shoot some rolls and develop them. Anyway, again, great review!

tzilpoctil777 Thanks Mario! Looking forward to hearing your review on the podcast. Speaking of GXPP, your recent episode got me thinking about viewfinders. The viewfinder on the Canon SureShot Owl is great. It’s a point and shoot, so there’s no information displayed in the finder, but it’s enormous and very easy to see through, even with eyeglasses.

Thanks for the video! I've got really nice results with Metropolis by shooting it at 400 and adding one extra minute in normal C-41 development. Apparently its native ISO is 200 and 400 is achieved by pushing.

The Metropolis with its look reminds me of old television series from the 70s. The weather was overcast. I would be interested to see what the same image looks like at the same time at 100, 200 and 400 ISO for comparison.

Just a quick question when you shoot film... How do you know you are exposed correctly?
@theoldcameraguy5 жыл бұрын
Violet Henning You really don’t know until you develop the film😄Most of my cameras have meters, so I trust the meters. If my camera doesn’t have a meter, I’ll use a light meter app on my phone. Negative film is pretty forgiving for exposure - there’s a decent amount of latitude. Slide film can be trickier to nail exposure
@VioletHenning5 жыл бұрын
Thanks buddy because i was wonderimg if you go down to F2. 8 how you know that you are exposed correctly. But it makes sense to use light meters.

Thanks Sam- I’ve got a couple more rolls in 35mm that I was saving for a trip to NY (the ultimate Metropolis) that was scheduled for the first week of June, but that’s of course a no-go now. Enjoy shooting yours!

I've struggled with it so far. The film definitely prefers overcast weather. Definitely not designed for the Australian summer sun 😁 Nice pics
@theoldcameraguy5 жыл бұрын
Thanks - it's more suited to dreary Ohio winter clouds!
@cdl05 жыл бұрын
@@theoldcameraguy Agreed, this film really suits a wintry scene, so it will be interesting to see what happens on a hot summer day in New York next June. It might be worth trying at night in a grimy cafe or bar, or in gloomy alleyways with overflowing bins.

Hello. I just watched your Kodak Brownie video, and this video. I'm new, still learning, and was wondering if Lomo Metropolis would work well in my metal knob Brownie Hawkeye camera? I'm confused about the variable ISO of the film (100-400). Do you think it would overexpose, or underexpose with the Brownie Hawkeye? Should I stick with film that has dedicated speed? Thank you for your awesome videos! 😊👍🏼
@theoldcameraguy4 жыл бұрын
Hi Bryan, There’s a decent chance the Brownie Hawkeye would overexpose Metropolis because it’s got a fairly slow shutter speed. If you’re taking images in overcast conditions, it might be OK. I would consider trying a less expensive 100 speed film first and seeing how that turns out. Thanks for watching!

Nice, it feels natural. Almost the exact opposite of Digital Sony Look. Not criticising the other guy, but I think he over exposed, hence bleached process! Interesting & thanks. A.,

Thanks Alex - Ray was basically a Beta tester and got his roll before almost everybody else. He suggested shooting at 400 or even 800 after seeing his results from that first roll at 200. He also has Miami Florida sun to contend with, which is something I don't have to worry about here in Ohio. He got some nice self portraits on that first roll and I am definitely glad he was able to give latecomers like me advice on exposure.
