I kind of get the appeal of the lomography cameras - it's like a tourist souvenir you buy for the aesthetic and symbolic value of an object to a place and time. However... this trend is ridiculous when you can buy some really amazing used 35mm cameras on eBay (that work supremely better) for much much less and they have a real link and significance to the past. As for how they suggest taking the images...they're making a fool out of people encouraging users to go through tonnes of film to get anything good while they smile and sell you more.

Why tell them? Why? Thanks to idiots like you, now those damn hipsters are ruining the SLR market. Yes, they're using proper cameras now but they're still doing the same lomography crap with them. As a result, the cost of good equipments have increased outrageously and unnecessarily and those damn hipsters are still doing the same crap except with much better equipments. Should've just let them playing with those plastic junk.
@arranwhite53434 жыл бұрын
Bill Badger let’s see your purlitzer prize then ;) or are you going to blame the lack of one on hipsters robbing all the ‘good’ camera gear?

Loved the video man! I just bought a diana mini and was actually in a workshop in Lomography in NYC so it was really nice to see it all in your vid. :D
@Beddyford896 жыл бұрын
I do like Lomography and their style, I own almost all of their coffee table books and use a few of their cameras (LCA and Diana), but I'm not a 'in the moment' photographer though, I have to actually think, plan and perfect a image that I want, I couldn't take a quick, blurry picture of something if its going to burn through a roll of film. I do like it for inspiration and the creative and colourful hipster vibe.

I always feel that there is an infinite monkey principle to the success rate of the lomography style. Sure if you're awful it might make your photos better, but you really have to be quite bad for it to be an improvement.

Rule No 10. Take more photos, when if they're crap, especially if they're crap. The more you practice the more film you recycle?
@AustinBeeman11 жыл бұрын
You did a great job with this video. Lomography should hire you to make more videos.

@JoeCubicle9 жыл бұрын
+Greg McKnight You might want to make sure you are wearing a stocking hat, have ear gauges or at least a retro sweater you bought from a thrift store. THAT is what lomo is all about... Attitude! This 'lomo' thing kills me, rules on how to not have rules.

theCreator Or for its users to have fun with photography, not strive for perfection with each photo. Just my take on it, I guess. But yeah, some of them like "shoot from the hip" are quite ridiculous.
@iloveRUSSIAAA8 жыл бұрын
Nah. The push in the past few decades has been to make photos as true to life as possible. After a while that becomes repetitive. Its nice to see a movement thats not about sterile everyday images.
@TheShorty0ne7 жыл бұрын
well i used to do that a lot...but didn't know it has a name, ive just though it was a mix of not having idea about photography and not being patient enough to think about what to catch and planing how to do it...
@underwaterdick6 жыл бұрын
well as much as we say these things about lomography, it has to be better than the smartphone photographer... Low res highly filtered images have now become the norm. In fact, when you take the perfect photo now and try not to use any post, people always think it doesn't quite look right. Why are the grass and sky not vibrant blue/green.... because of the light conditions that day...not because I didn't use the right smartphone filter.

Digital cameras are great for these kinds of pix. You can simply delete the crappy photos that even YOU cannot recognize. Rule #11: Shoot like you are a tourist on safari.
@buchsg5 жыл бұрын
lomography just want you shoot more cause you'll buy more film, develop them etc. so they make cash... they don't care you shoot crappy photos, they are making profit ;) nevertheless their films are good to very good if you are shooting them correctly with a good camera (not their plastic crappy one's)
