Londa Ke Naach ,our ancestors brought from India.A traditional cultural dance.A male dressed as a female dancing as entertaintment during the marriage ceremony. This is the moment captured when the Baraat arrived at the Dulhin's house. The History behind the Londa Ke Naach:
Wedding in early time in Bihar from where our ancestors came from, mostly took place from one village(Gaon) to another village. The wedding ceremony took place at night, so the Baraat left by foot at day time, and arrived at night at the Dulhin's village, thats why only male accompanied the Dulha(because they had to walk a long distance) Only the Dulha was sitting on a Bullcar. In de beginning they brought a female to dance, but in some culture it was not accepted. After the wedding ceremony when the baraat with the dulhin is returning home in the morning ( we still have kept this ( we in Suriname stay the whole night at the Dulhin's place :) ) , the Baraati's must be very carefull, because on the way to home village ,Daku's(Robbers)were present to rob the group..they know the Dulhin has gold and dowry. The Male's always prepare to defend the group.
Time has change now,but we still see in Suriname that male's are going with the Baraat and stay the whole night .That tradition has not change in 150 years. Also the food is still the same,Daal,Bhaat, Bhanta Alloo(Baigan Alloo) ,Kohra(Kaddoo) ,Karhi & Chutney :) ...This is the traditional Nauwta Ke Khaana. And snacks like Bara (vada) ,samosa ,Jalebi,Laddoo and other mithai's and snacks. In a modern Shadi you can find more diff.kind of food...but the traditional food will be there!!!!.
