Nice to see some of the canal routes, roads and cafés I remember. Some parts of London looked remarkably dated, particularly when shown in black and white images. Now roads are ram packed with cars, stationary and in traffic and parking restrictions and road closures abound without logic. Thank you for taking the time to share these images, one of a cafe I used to frequent reminded me of going in there with my girlfriend for lunch, that long forgotten memory sprang back clear upon seeing the cafe again.

London in the 1980s suffered from quite a bit of deindustrialisation.

@@jamesmchugh3751 much as I would like to blame Thatcher she wasn’t responsible for much of it. Shortsightedness on behalf of both management and workers started the decline then cheaper, and often better, foreign imports finished the job. Thatcher didn’t kill the car and motorcycle industries. She didn’t finish the textile factories in the north west and she certainly didn’t end the docks in the east end of London. You want to blame someone then blame us the British public. We have an unenviable record of damaging ourselves. Just look at Brexit !
