Thanks so much for this advice Nick! It's my first marathon, I'm not very fast, and my main goal is just to complete it regardless of the time (but hopefully around 5hrs30) and have fun whilst doing it. Going to the expo tomorrow so hopefully that will settle some big nerves, and get me excited. Have a great race!

Wish I'd seen this before I ran London Marathon in October 2022. Relatively short notice and had had nowhere near enough training (summer was so hot that year made it so tough to train properly, 5am runs are yum, longest run pre marathon was 25km so that was a huge error). Got dropped by the guys I was running with at 24km, last 18km felt so long and lonely and blackfriars bump was like climbing a mountain and then continuously searching for distance markers that never seemed to come. Tower Bridge got me so pumped I was a full minute faster per km for km 21 over tower bridge and right towards the docks which absolutely killed me for the rest of the run. 2h across the bridge at halfway, finishing at 4h12, but recently I'd run a 1h37 half so I was gutted with my time. Don't make those mistakes, and good luck to everyone running tomorrow! Whatever happens it's such an experience to run the London Marathon so be sure to enjoy the day and the crowds! I'll be back one year soon to do it properly. Boom shakalaka!

I don’t even notice Buckingham Palace when I ran London. I remember seeing the “600m to go” sign before the roundabout on to the mall and giving it full beans … only to look up and see the mall which seemed to go on forever 😂

If using a pacing band, don’t rush and sellotape it on upside down 😩 (like me in 2022)! If you’re a spectator don’t shout things like ‘only 2 miles to go’ in the final few miles. Felt like slapping someone who shouted that 😂 2 miles is agesss

This will be my 4th London Marathon - the first one was my best - as you say I had even spilts . If I hadn't stopped to take loads of photos, poding in front ofvthe London Eye and running back to take one of New Scotland Yard I would have come in at 3.50 - I came in at 4:00:30 the following London Marathons were not so good. I need to focus on even splits- just looking back on that Marathon and copying down what my splits were, hopefully this year will be sub 4 Thank you for your advice you are awesome - good luck 🍀❤

Don't forget that LUCOZADE is very low in sugar in the UK (only about 4g/100ml). It is also cut with sweeteners. A normal fruit juice/can if coke is about 12g/100ml. Don't rely on Lucozade for fuelling- only electrolytes

Hi Nick, good luck this Sunday, I'm sure you're gonna smash it! Do you maybe know what happens with the spots when people are injured before the race? For the NN Marathon Rotterdam, they have a dropout list where people can take over the spots. I'm still trying my luck and hoping to take over an entree number from someone ☺
@justalilbester5 ай бұрын
For London they’re pretty strict with entires. I think now it’s too late and runners for London marathon have to run in their own number. Sorry mate, I know it can be a tricky one to get in to.

What colour and wave are you in? I’m in Blue Wave 1 and was looking for 2:40 but I’ve not had the best training block as I’ve been injured for over half of it. Still hoping for a sub 3hrs if possible.

Some people win the hair genetics! Nick is probably not genetically sensitive to DHT. DHT is the main cause of baldness in men. However, some men like Nick and Brad Pitt, Declan Rice and Richard Nixon are not sensive to it in terms of hair follicle health!
