why have u put a reggae soundtrack over the top of a film(first part of the film) shot at an oi gig????? that would be the equivalent of filming folk at a rave and then adding mumford and sons as the soundtrack!

the music at that gig was oi music not reggae. there are people airbrushing things out because of their politics....fuck politics. 2nd wave skins(of which these are) predominantly listened to punk and oi. even most of the 1st lot of skins, including some of my relations and neighbours didn't listen to reggae and from what they've said it was bands like slade they were into at the time. if you lived somewhere cosmopolitan like London or a city like Bristol with a big early immigrant population you probably did hear some good reggae tunes but it was a minority at the time that had exposure to that. it was not the case in most of the country (places like say Glasgow or middlesburgh) where there were not many immigrants and the radio at the time didn't play reggae(late 60`s v early 70`s). im not making any political point and I like a bit of ska and reggae myself, but I don't feel it`s fair that oi is being airbrushed out of history and younger folk are looking at sites like this and don`t realise it . go to harry may`s site to get some good oi tunes have a listen and look at the photos .Other than that, like the site like the tunes, didn`t mean to go on as long but thought I`d better explain myself! oi oi oi and peace tae yiz aw.

I'm pretty sure the guy clowning about with the glasses was the singer of Indecent Exposure, the RAC band... so certainly nothing PC about these skins! but yeah, I get what you mean, though of course a lot of the second wave skinheads were into reggae too, and there's nothing PC about being a reggae skinhead as the SHARPs try to make out. Dunno who added the music anyway, could be the people who made this documentary originally or the uploader of this video.

aye. your right I should've mentioned madness, badmanners and two tone as well...but my post was long enough already and late at night!! it just nips ma heid that there are so many sites doing the "all original skins/good skins were into reggae" bit. you can be into one, you can be into the other, you can be into both, or folk music, do what you want . it`s just the misrepresentation that bugs me. cheers n beers whitedwarf13 ma man!(when I look at this now don`t know why I posted in the first place, think I`d had a few !! hahaha!)

its footage from the last resort shop in about 1981 as a guess, and its mainly milky with the glasses, his band were called indecent exposure. don't recognise many of the others, little barry and a few more, but it was a regular sunday morning hang out for london skinheads, and some skinheads came from far and wide. Nothing political about it, just teenage skinhead fashion subculture

This is later than 1981 more like 84/85. I remember them coming down and filming us, the shop eventually shut its doors 1987. Mickey did keep the shop running a little while after that selling casual gear. (Little barry)

This was a BBC documentary on combat 84 and clips from the famous shop the Last Resort. More skins at that time were into Oi than the reggae. Stop changing the past ;-)

Chris Black not that I’m any authority, but maybe to those who became a skinhead through two tone or early oi period around 80-81 and then moved on from it to something else popular at the time. But there were still a decent amount of skins about during the mid-late 80s, it all depended on where you were and your local mob that you hung around with

Chap in the glasses, remember one NYE Trafalgar Sq and us lot were drunk and well behaved and for some reason old bill they went for him, so rest of us piled in on old bill and we got dragged off to Rochester Row nick who quickly found out I was wanted for being on the run from the nick down in Redhill... back to lock up I went /sigh Think that was the year me old muckah Lil Rob got done, he was a Bethnal Green lad but someone told me he got done up by a load of blokes from Chinatown.
