Murder maps is one of the best shows EVER! I look forward to these episodes SO much...everything from the story to the actors, to that fantastic host/announcer...This show is so incredibly done that it captures my attention every time...and I usually watch each episode a couple of times...and I don't do that with many other programs,but this one is SO good that I find myself fascinated with each new episode! PLEASE keep making more of these Murder maps!!!! Nicholas Day RULES!

In the first frames of this vid, you see a young woman walking along a path alone. You’re then shown a man who uncovers an axe, but before he can use it, another couple appear on the path. He then decides to not attack the lone woman. I wonder how many people have, unknown to themselves, escaped being murdered or attacked by the skin of their teeth.

The fact that the cop took the axe home to chop wood, I don’t think it’s outside the realm of possibilities that they coerced a confession out of him.
@SussexSauvignonRedVino
@SussexSauvignonRedVino 4 ай бұрын
I have read a lot about this case. Even though I believe Whiteway was guilty, both the confession and the miraculous recovery of the so-called murder weapon when police need to find it but couldn't scream of fabricated evidence. The police staged all of their case against him because of gut feelings of his guilt they could not prove.
@tl-dr_thisuserna
@tl-dr_thisuserna 3 ай бұрын
I know… at the end there was def a strong implication that the confession likely was coerced, or at least obtained in a less straightforward way than the cops presented. I think the guy did it but that doesn’t negate the fact that the case was totally mishandled. The axe’s chain of custody was a joke and the head detective believed that the ends always justify the means, calling *everything* he did into question. I dunno.

Because, by no fault of their own, they were in the presence of a killer. The killer was in exactly the place and time they wanted to be. Another way to put it is that it was a coincidence, a grouping of random factors that came together to create the circumstances in which someone was killed.

This series is one of my favourites. That last sentence, with the music, sent a chill down my spine and brought the tears to my eyes. It's worth noting about the case that after Whiteway's execution, a series of attacks on women that had been going on for some time suddenly ceased. So it's very likely that the police did convict the right man.

I'm really glad they chose the reenactment style that realizes it doesn't have to go into detail of the violent acts to get the points across. The blend of actual crime scene photos, evidence is perfect mix with the acting. I usually don't like reenacting because I don't care to see a actor play out violent acts. I'm more into analysis of the evidence and details and actual crime scene photos, I can handle twisted things it's just the acting out violence seems unnecessary to me to grasp the concept and criminal behavior. So it's just a pet peeve with reenactments then "not liking disturbing stuff" I'm all for learning intense shit. Anyways this show surprised me with how well they did this.

In those days, the Police were held in high regard, even though they played fast and loose with the rules at the time. Because of this as years went by, legislation was passed to tighten up the rules and how the Police conduct themselves. Unfortunately there seems to be more corruption nowadays than ever before. Yeah it is surprisingly quite easy to overhandedly whip an axe at a given target and find it's target. Almost every time just like the tomahawk A hand held small axe is perfectly designed to fly end over end and not diverging from its intended target due to the effect of yaw like when a bullet begins to turn end over end The fulcrum point obviously is the axe head because of the weight

Just a minor error in the use of the past tense in the intro, here, let me fix it: "For many centuries London has been a dangerous place."

My parents married in 1953. Like the victims they were virtuous, church-going young people. It brings it very close to me.

I guess the people who were killed by lightning had never been taught that it is extremely unsafe to stand under a tree during a storm. Lesson learned, unfortunately. Now I'm waiting to see if anyone asks why it is bad idea to take shelter under a tree which is probably the tallest structure in the vicinity, during a storm. ®.

The death penalty has always been a nonsensical punishment. Killing a person is wrong so the penalty given by the court is to kill a person.

Thank you.🙏Perfect logic. If the "State" says it is wrong to kill. How can they justify killing? Madness....

The fact that there were no more crimes of that nature suggests that he was guilty as charged. The possibility that police may have verballed him is a worry though.

Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea !" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"

This whole thing is as fishy as hell. No murder weapon, no blood on his clothes even though the girls had multiple stab wounds and something they didn't mention. The defence theorised that the perpetrator stole one of the girls bikes to get away, its never been found to this day. The guy was riding home on his own bike. Why would he need another? And how do you ride 2 bikes at the same time?
