Television news didn't exist even before the war. BBC Television opened in 1936, and they relied on airing the cinema newsreels. BBC Television News didn't start until after the war, with Television Newsreel launched in 1948.

A not so fun fact: the Germans would purposely wait until the tide was low in the river Thames and then use fire bombs on London so that the firemen would struggle to put it out because of the low tide.

In war , you would eat animals from starving. I understand your a good person but reality is just too harsh to comprehend. Every emotion you maintain as a human being would fade .That being said I wish for a world with peace. Together with our best friends (Dogs,Cats).

Why do these old documentaries talk only about England ( although this particular video concerns London it is nonetheless the capital of the whole UK. ). In the WW1 song " Till The Boys Come Home " they mention that no Englishman is silent at the sacred call of friend but weren't the Scottish, Welsh and Irish - plus the people of the colonies from Australia to Africa fighting too ? It reminds me of how we used always to refer to the USSR as " Russia " even though very many of its citizens were not Russian at all. No disrespect meant to anybody by the way and the dear people in this video are heroes indeed.

I think the Germans and the Americans are more likely to refer to the UK as "England" than the English are. The number of times iv seen American documentaries say things like "the rebels freed The colonies from England" or "England's empire" 🤦
