7:06 I seem to recall the driver calling the guy a bastard before they take him away

He did, but UKTV edited out all the swearing.

He did. Or he said something to him? Can't remember what though?

@@wheelie_1988 Nah, he definitely said "You bastard".

These punks must've received some pretty harsh prison sentences.

A bunch of loonies learned their lesson the hard way, not the brightest idea, and could have been more polite or so, and they wouldn't have crashed under the bridge.

These hooligans obviously took lessons in bus driving from Stan Butler.

When football is referred to as a game for yobs around 2.00, it's interesting John Alford, who sticks up for the game, became a football hooligan in series 13 of Grange Hill.

has anyone noticed that the bus driver was played by the same actor who played Sid in only fools and horses

The late Roy Heather.

In jolly boys outing he said he & denzil worked on the buses!

Yes, Roy Heather. This was his second role in London's Burning, having previously played a caretaker in Series 2, Episode 7.

Yes and as Sid was an ex bus driver this might suggest both Only Fools and London's Burning might be in the same universe

I never got to see this episode when I was growing up as I'm sure they didn't air it on Scottish TV. This was largely down to a bus crash into a low bridge that involved a group of Girl Guides and their leaders from Drumchapel in September 1994. A friend of mine died that day and, after watching this several years later, this still haunts me!

I don't understand why on earth would a bunch of criminals want to hijack a bus, but I've only seen buses get stolen in London...

As you saw, much bigger than anything the Old Bill has in their fleet so forming a roadblock would be pointless, unless you used either vans or a couple of tanks!

I heard about two teenage joyriders who stole a bus and crashed it, their excuse was they did not have enough money for the bus fare home.

Interested to see old methods like grinders being used. By those pumps it was the 80s. Did London not surely have jaws by then?
