Yeah great, we could become like a gulf state with no inhibitions or accountability on the part of the govt. Go down this route and the state becomes the gangster. OK so there's no litter or graffiti but this is small compensation for having a govt that can use torture on you. I don't know what the answer is here but giving the state powers to act with impunity and secrecy with untrammeled powers is not the way forward in my opinion. Japan has a serious gangster problem, always did. In places like Russia the mafia actually IS the govt in that no one knows where the mafia ends and the govt begins. As to Singapore, it is incomparable to a country like the UK, I suspect British people would find law enforcement a real drag fairly quickly given their predilection for throwing rubbish everywhere and taking no responsibility for their immediate environment.

I don't know about Singapore but never use Japan as an example of handling crime well It's impossible to get a 90%+ conviction rate without violating everyone's rights, wether through heavy monitoring basically insuring no one has privacy or convicting everyone regardless if they're innocent or not And last I checked in Japan they can hold you indefinitely if they can't convict you until you "confess" Also you don't get one of the highest self game over in the world from a happy population Also also I've never heard anything about freedom from Japan but that's just my personal experience

Facts bruv it all stems from bad childhood not brought up 2 parent household with a strict masculine father to teach. I am from a 2 parent family but dad was never there so mum raised me best she could. I got in to drug dealing and crime as I struggled at school and I ended up down that naughty road for a while. I believe if I had my dad around more and actually spent time teaching me tings like life how to be a strong man etc then I wouldn’t have got in to the shit I did. This was inevitably going to have an impact on the growth of gangs along with cuts to other input and support. It costs about 35 grand a year to imprison someone, our jails are literally disintegrating and the criminal justice system is barely functioning through lack of resources and shortages of critical staff. Half of courts have been closed over the last ten years. Add a massive increase in child poverty and atrocious housing problems and the situation is tailor made for an increase in crime. What the hell do people expect here......?!
