By the way, it's a kettle not a tea kettle. One thing is a kettle for heating water (usually for tea or coffee or anything else). Another thing is a teapot, which you pour your boiling water in, over the tea leaves, for example.

London Bridge and Tower Bridge are two different bridges. And the river Avon is pronounced like haven, but without the H. The river Thames is pronounced "Tems".

We also call cookies, cookies. Biscuits are different to cookies. They have a different texture and composition. It’s the same for French Fries. We also call them French Fries, chips are something quite different.

Personally, I say biscuits and chips. American biscuits (with gravy!) look similar to our scones. I don't know if they taste the same, but we have scones with jam and fresh cream.
