Virgin trains have a very nice color scheme(colour-the proper way to spell it in the English language). Train travel is the way to travel and see the countryside & coastal area of a country. It's very relaxing, comfortable, don't have to fight highway traffic, stop to eat, stop to refuel, stop to sleep for the night & stop to go to the bathroom, and you don't have to deal with the hassles of air travel unless it is long distance international air travel.

Excellent video, enjoyed. Reflecting on my recollection of the same journey in the '70s and '80s biggest difference must be the transformation of Kings Cross, huge improvement. Type quality and variety of trains is also very different. This is a troubled franchise with a history of operators failing, but when it works its great.

I remember taking this journey (with a few alterations in the middle). First day we travelled to London Euston in the south east in two hours with breakfast I think. Then walked over to London Marylebone and took a two hour journey to Birmingham Moor Street in the west midlands. Walked to Birmingham New Street and did a return journey to a local station for high speed train spotting. Then took an hour journey to Derby in the east Midlands and a one or two hour to London St Pancras (we saw a famous actor on the train). We then took the tube to London Fenchurch Street. We then took an hour journey east which was about 40 miles to Shouberryness and a return journey to Southend about 5 minutes west. Spent a night in Southend (loud nightlife lol). Took a train in the morning from the other Southend terminus to London Liverpool Street. Then took a 2 hour trip to Norwich (100 miles north). Then took a train about 40 miles west to Peterborough. Then took a VTEC train like this one to Newcastle and stayed over night there. Went to see a Tv show place in the morning and a train to Edinburgh. Then took a train to Perth on one side of the Cairgourns and a train to Inverness on the other. Took a train back to Edinburgh and stayed overnight. Next day went to Glasgow (40 miles west) and then a three hour journey to Fort William (saw the tallest mountain in the UK) was planning to stay on longer to see harry potter filming locations but the earlier train we tried to get on was cancelled and we wouldn't have made it for the Sleeper to London Euston. Didn't get much sleep and fell out the bed. Walked to London St Pancras (again) and took a high speed train to Ashford for Eurostar action. Took an hour train to the coastal town of Brighton about 50 miles below London. Got a carrot cake ice cream and took a train to Gatwick Airport (30 miles north) so I could get a Gatwick Express train to London Victoria. Took the tube to London Paddington (had a shower for free as we were sweating from 20 degree weather all week. Took the tube to London St Pancras and Thameslink to Elephant and Castle I think. Then took tube to Paddington and Riviera Sleeper to Penzance (bottom left corner of England). Then took a high speed train about 200 miles east to Exeter and a train to London Waterloo. Took the tube to London Kings Cross and a Grand Central train to York and back. Then stayed overnight in London. Then took a high speed train with silver service a couple hundred miles west to Cardiff in Wales and took a local valleys line and back. Then took a regional train about 150 miles north east to Birmingham New Street again and a high speed train about 100 miles north east to Crewe and our final train back home to Chester.

dave4shmups compared to other European countries, I'd definitely say that British rail is in a complete mess and is ridiculously expensive! I only hope that Virgin train services are better than the internet service they provide. What with all the buffering, it's taken me nearly 20 minutes to watch your video. On what used to be the GNER service, it was possible to travel from Doncaster to York in under that time.
@agent_6057 жыл бұрын
They still do it at that speed. Most of the time Internet is purely down to the local infrastructure, which isn't always controlled by the provider. I used to use Sky and they often had internet problems, but they couldn't do anything since the infrastructure is controlled by BT.
