Another of my favourite places in London. Love this route as I travel in on the coach

Another great video Angela - and btw, one of the reasons I love your walks is because when you chat, it feels like Im walking along with you! Cant wait for your next one - hi to you and the D.W from Queensland!🙋♀️

Hey there Kerrie, lovely to hear from you and thank you so much for your kind comment:) You are spot on, when I'm walking and chatting, I sort of imagine you are all there walking along with me, it makes me feel a little less silly! I did my first live walk yesterday on Heygo and it was quite comforting knowing there were people actually on the other end of my chatter at that moment in time, although I found myself talking quite loudly which rather attracted more attention than normal... All the best, Angela

It's been the Worlds End forever.

Since late 19th century, when the world's end distillery opened around 1896. The question remains why would a private road for a king be labelled as far away ( world'send), when in fact Buckingham Palace is only 20 minutes away.

@CarolanneTitmus-Greene Hi. Through Oscar wilde research who was himself a resident in Chelsea Tite street in 1884, the name world's end arrived from being the furthest point before you can have refreshments. The name has also existed since late 1600's. It makes more sense now. I think it means, There was a very long distance between the last point of having refreshment, to the world's end. All previous points of refreshments must have had short distance between them, with exception to the furthest point which is the world's end ( far away ).

Hey there Fred and thank you for the kind comment. Yes, it was a longer walk than I expected! It's mostly been a good autumn here with a bit of rain to start topping up the supplies, although torrential today. We did manage rather a nice brunch afterwards;) Hope you are well. Angela

Ha, I like your line about your surprise walks. We never know where you’ll take us, despite the title. I’m anticipating ending up IN the Thames at some point! I enjoyed this video so much. I love the area. The architecture is amazing. I had my eye out for flying buttresses. 😉 You really did your homework on this one. I was imagining all the figures of the past going about their daily lives, you were so descriptive. I don’t thank you enough for doing all that work to bring us the information. I hope you like doing the research (at least a bit!) as much as we enjoy hearing it. That’s some traffic in the area! I’m glad Dedicated Helper was there to keep you safe. Good man. What would we do without your videos! I had to laugh (apologies) when near the end, the construction crew chimed in with I think the loudest drill I’ve ever heard. As if the traffic wasn’t bad enough. It would have made a good skit. 😄 You must have been hoarse after that. I hope you had a nice lunch, along with a cup of soothing tea!

So lovely to hear from you Goldie and thank you as always for another wonderful comment 😀 Chelsea really took me by surprise with such a rich history. I enjoy the research a lot but it delays me doing more walks as it takes a couple of days to find and synthesise all the information from good quality sources. That's why it's so motivating to receive supportive comments like yours. The lad was disappointed we didn't track down bubble tea so I've been overcompensating since with lots of trips! Hope you are well 🙏 Angela

I'm new to your work, Angela, and enjoyed this walk immensely. Thank you. Your joke about the Chelsea Physic/Psychic Garden prompts me to add that a very well known psychic artist lived at 19 Cheyne Walk for a time. She was Anna Mary Howitt Watts, daughter of William and Mary Howitt who were prominent spiritualists and writers. Mary Howitt was a poet whose best known offering is probably The Spider and the Fly. Anna Mary was trained in fine art and exhibited at the RA but a particularly scathing review of one of her paintings by Ruskin caused her to destroy all her work and never attempt fine art again. Instead, she attempted to paint religious visions experienced in 'dreams', over and over until she was satisfied of their perfection. I suspect she may have partaken of the laudanum habit which finished off Elizabeth Siddal, a supermodel of her time and artist in her own right. After all, they knew each other via membership of the Pre-Raphaelite Sisterhood (self-explanatory). After Anna Mary's death her widower donated all her work to the Society for Psychical Research in Cambridge University Library.

Great walk and it was a bit nosey, hope all those nice houses had double glazing windows. Malcolm McLaren is buried in Highgate east cemetery and I have taken a picture of it. Christian Lacroix is famous to us because of Absolutely Fabulous with him being one of Eddy's favorite designers. On our last trip we walked along the river by the statue of St Thomas bridge and we crossed at Chelsea bridge to go Battersea park and the the power station. Thanks for great walk. Take Care Chris and Sandra of Canada.

Hello, I'm catching up on comments this morning after a very busy few weeks with the kitchen fitters and the lad's KZbin deadlines, plus a couple of my own;) Yes, I would imagine double glazing is a necessity on those old houses along there but not so suitable for the summer garden parties! And yes, how can we forget Christian Lacroix from AbFab?! Glad you enjoyed the walk, it's a beautiful and possibly overlooked part of London. All the best, Angela

Oh Hello there Angela. Haven't watched this latest video of yours yet but will do so very soon. Really looking forward to it, especially from the title. I see it's over an hour long too. A lot of work for you. Hope all is we with you and family, especially your Mum. My mum and I have been so busy. We were in Birmingham last weekend for two nights for Grand Designs Live at the NEC. Oh and on the way up to NEC we went to the Clean and Tidy Home show at London Excel. First year for this show but it's back again next year. A day after returning to Canterbury I had a couple of visitors from Canada (Calgary, not my home town of Vancouver) who are staying in London, as their daughter is at Uni there. They came to Canterbury for the day and I was their tour guide. Took them for a riverboat tour as well as the cathedral and many other places. They even commented that I should be a full time tour guide! Their FB page now also has so many photos of places they've visited in London. I am quite amazed and inspired by them actually! Yesterday Saturday we went to the combined OM Yoga and Body Mind and Soul Show at Alexandra Palace aka Ally Pally. I also got some great photos of the view from up there. Regarding your previous comments in another video, I truly hope you don't get too discouraged by the growth of London YT channels. You are most definitely at the top in terms of quality, especially also as you narrate your videos. Plus you have such extensive and amazing knowledge as you walk. So please don't get discouraged. You are right that there is some "interesting" similarity amongst some of the other channels. As you will have seen, someone will video a particular area...and shortly afterwards another channel will have a video of the same area. Interestingly, also when viewing someone's London video I've seen what appears to be someone else from.snother channel walk right past the camera, also videoing! I hope your knees are ok btw. You've reminded me. There is a book called "The Creaky Knees Guide Washington. 100 Easy Walks" outlining lots of easy walks around greater Seattle as well as all over Washington State. I mention this not as a plug for the book but maybe an idea for some of your video's? Anyhow thank you so much for all your efforts and your lovely chatty friendly nature that so clearly comes across in all your videos. And I always love to go back to the first video of yours that got me hooked into your channel. Namely your guide to Victoria rail station. It always gives me a warm fuzzy feeling to view that. It's also a great station and although I haven't caught a train from there I have walked through it several times on my way to it from Victoria Coach station just down the road. Anyhow take care and speak soon! Ibrahim in Canterbury
@ChattyWalkswithAngela2 жыл бұрын
Hey there Ibrahim, lovely to hear from you as always. I love hearing about the adventures that you and your mum go on, you are so busy but what a great way to spend your time. And yes, I suspect you would make a great guide; it sounds like an amazing trip around Canterbury for your visitors, they were truly lucky to have you. You could definitely run a blog site and post photos of your travels. It's funny, I walked through Victoria Station after filming this video and it took me back to filming my 'how to' guide. I might do an updated one some time as people seem to like it. I damaged my 'strong' knee after being rather enthusiastic with my physio stretches and that has put my progress back by a couple of months which is really frustrating; I will check out that book suggestion. My mother was diagnosed with something called myeloma, but it is currently inactive, so it's regular monitoring for now. It really gets her down though. And thank you for your supportive comments following that very helpful exchange I had with John Orchin, who has been supporting my channel since it started nearly 4 years ago. The London walks KZbin situation was very, very different back then and I feel bad being negative about the incredible developments, but it is very discouraging seeing channels arrive and take off to massive views and subscribers in a matter of months while I feel I am plodding along slowly. If there weren't such a lovely community on this channel, people like you who take the time to watch the videos and send such appreciative messages, it would be much harder to keep going with it. I really believe in what I do, am passionate about walks that tell a tale and show people these amazing places, so I am committed to keeping it all going as long as people want this type of content, which they seem to:) Thank you again for all the support. All the best, Angela

@@ChattyWalkswithAngela It does! Much of the podcast happens in Chelsea (there's dispute over the exact location of the Institute itself, but it's supposed to be modeled after the Art College on Islip near Millbank Park. I've got a pair of characters on Cheyne Walk, talking and possibly going to sneak into that empty Kahns, so this has been more than helpful. (I have also linked you in the writers' Discord, so you may get some more views from people writing things set in London who don't live there.
