The house on the left at 15:42 is where the Carry On film actor Jack Douglas lived for many years. The cricket green as you described it is Giggs Hill Green. The MMB offices were overlooking the green at the far end towards Esher on the right hand side.

Hi Angela, thank you for taking the time to record beautiful and historic Thames Ditton. 800 year old St Nicholas Church is so pretty. So many pockets of history in and around Surrey. I am familiar with the areas, but am learning so much more than I never knew before! Your walks are keeping me sane during lockdown, looking forward to the next one :) x

Hey Tina, great to hear from you:) Rhodos must be SO hot now while I am looking out at the rain falling here. Yes, Thames Ditton is a nice little spot for something different just outside of London and Hampton Court. Do you have any news on your trip in August? It's so hard to guess at the moment what to do for the best, but I think quite a lot of London businesses will start bringing staff back into the office in August. Angela

A friend who was a child in Surbiton in the late 1950's/early 1960's told me that Cooper's used to test their racing cars on the Kingston bypass in the middle of the night! We've certainly been lucky with the weather during the lockdown. Where I live (mid Cornwall) it's been the sunniest and driest May since (IIRC) 1948. Thanks for the video.

@@ChattyWalkswithAngela It certainly wasn't legally; whether anyone ever complained I don't know! I agree about the weather. I think most Brits get tired of dry and sunny after a week or two; as long as it doesn't pour with rain for weeks which it doesn't seem about to. The ground here is as dry as the ground in your video which is very unusual, especially this early in the year. Like most places in the world Cornish towns and tourist destinations are deathly quiet. Of course the season would normally be well under way by now. Though the crowds can be frustrating at times, I miss them.

Actually it's on my list of possibles to do that too. It's a tricky one getting the right length of walk and places of interest. Someone has asked me to film in the sort of High Street area around Hampton Court which I may do, also Esher High Street/Sandown perhaps. It's tricky to get out right now but Hampton Court is just about within walking distance! Best wishes, Angela

@@frankmartin1168 Great idea to go on the passholder day; I don't currently have any passes for our local theme parks, but love the feeling of going when everyone else can't quite be there yet and it's that bit quieter - we have Thorpe Park and Chessington World of Adventures near to us, not quite Universal Studios of course, but lots of fun. I'm a secret adrenaline junkie! Not sure if you have any thoughts on this, but I'm thinking to make a video on 'getting started with this kind of channel' for those like me who want to give it a go. I'm not exactly a big KZbinr, but thought it might help 'the little guy' giving it a try for the first time. In some ways it's easy to start a KZbin channel filming local places and interesting places, but in other ways, there are things it's helpful to be aware of. If you think that might be of interest, let me know what sort of thing you would be seeking information about. No pressure though! Angela

It's a lovely pub, spent New Year there many years ago. When I was researching the walk, I found out (but forgot to say) that on one of the forums it was mentioned they had pretty good food there in the 1960s which was unusual at that time, and also that there was an upstairs area that was 'by invitation only' - probably for the likes of the Coopers and the Pontins!

I'm planning on a few days away to London this summer, if possible, and one of the days I'm looking to visit Hampton Court Palace and both Richmond and Bushy parks. And in the evening I'm planning on going to the Ye Old Swan for a drink or two. If I do (visit the pub in the evening that is) it will be my first ever visit to Surrey. Am I right in saying that the river Thames is the border between Surrey and Greater London?

Sorry to the late reply. I do hope you have a lovely trip, the parks are beautiful, especially Richmond Park shrouded in fog this morning. Yes, Surbiton is the Surrey/Greater London point on the Thames, which also has the old Middlesex and Surrey sides. All the best, Angela

Good morning Angela how are you doing according to my calculations it must be nearly 7:50am Wednesday morning in the UK as I am writing this from Western Canada it is 12:48am Wednesday morning . I am still up as I just got home from work about a hour ago. And started watching your newest video as always very well done luv and a fabulous job on Narration through the video love hearing the accents from back home I still have some of mine still left. Great shots of the Thames village and yes I have to agree they are the best houses and very well built as last for a long time. Anyway luv I am still catching up on watching your older videos on the channel when I have time to do so. I am thinking about starting doing videos on where I live but I don't think I am going to have enough time to do it we will see. It's lovely that the Thames Ditton walk gets quite a lot of interest - as you say, lots of nuggets around the place, plus bits I forget while commentating plus bits I missed in research. The AC car works is something I forgot during the walk, plus the Jack Douglas thing, but I didn't know about Grahame LeSaux! I also thought Ronan Keating lived in the area at some point? I'm thinking Esher next but someone has suggested around the Albany and looking across to Hampton Court so a re-visit to TD is possible. Hope it took you back a bit from Glasgow to Thames Ditton:) All the best, Angela
