Everyone that moves to a new country needs to make a effort to learn their new country’s customs and manners. Of course keeping their customs is fine, but to assimilate they need to know what the culture is in their new country.

@@julieduree9210It would really be nice for them to learn the language of the country that they moved to. Here in the states so many can't speak English and don't seem to want to learn.

I have mentioned this on other " platforms" however I do not think I have made this observation with you John, so here goes, the Signs that are displayed are short of useless as a large majority of the " Tourist's "😢 that visit that spot do not speak English let alone " Read it" . They should I believe have 4 Universal signs ( 1 on each wall) showing a " Horse & Rider" with a hand Reaching out with a Red band across it.

An experiment was conducted years ago where the put very small signs up and people were curious to see what they said, so they walk close to read them. Not that it would work there as some people are just assholes

John I watch your videos all the time and I love them I have one question why is there a chain under the horses head

I posted a reply that doesn't appear now - I think because I posted a link to a YT video from about 6 or 8 years ago where a trooper was explaining each piece of the horse's tack, including the chain. I'm guessing YT don't allow links to other YT videos. The answer to your question is that it is part of the traditional tack that the horses had to wear when going into battle, to deflect/minimise any injury to the horse from swords.

The chain is a tether chain from campaign days used to attach the horses to a line for safety , rest , food and water while the Troopers also tested and ate . It clips to the headcollar then lies loose around the neck .

@@kathellison8084 Interesting because that wasn't the explanation given by a trooper who was explaining the horses' tack in a YT video I found but it certainly is another sensible use for the chain. I did attempt to post the link to that video for the lady who asked the question but YT doesn't appear to allow replies to links, even to other YT videos.

@heatherharvey3129- I think also if the reins were cut by a sword the chain though not attached to the bit could be used as a back up to control the horse as it's clipped to the headcollar . YT doesn't allow lots of things , I've had comments removed before and had to change what I've written ! Have a good day 😊

Is there anywhere that it shows this was Whitehall Palace or that these are actual on duty guards and horses

Horse Guards was originally the entrance to The Palace of Whitehall and St James Palace . Whitehall Palace burned down in the 17th century and was never rebuilt . Horse Guards was rebuilt in the 18th century , as stables and military base which it still remains . It's not difficult to look up the history . Those who visit as part of a tour group will be given some history and information ( though depending on the guide not always correct ) . Many who come along the Mall from Buckingham Palace probably have no idea of its history and that the soldiers really are soldiers in the British Army . There is the Museum on the Parade ground and various information boards . Will people read them or bother to look up Horse Guards on the phones that are permanently glued to their hands who knows ?

Interestingly, you mention him! I was scrolling on Tik Tok a day or two ago. Buska came up on my FYP as a Live. I think that moment was at this time. Buska still hasn't got over himself. He was giving John a hard time, but you can't hear it on this video. 🙄
