The Dussacks you received doesn't match the picture on their website. The blade pictured is "single edged" (and you can notice the tip in line with the spine and the maker's mark on the ricasso near the spine, and clearly no center "ridge" between the two edges), while yours is double edged and symetrical. Also, the "index ring" is quite larger than depicted. I checked in a software, and unless there are really some weird lens effects, the blade is sligthly curved indeed (at least it appears so, if it isn't it's the seller's responsibility to make sure the product appears as it is). So basically it's just the wrong blade on these dussacks, probably just hastly slapped together and sent away. Shoddy is the word...

Nice. Just an audio tip: if it's available in the software you use to edit the video, try putting on the audio recordings from that room a high pass filter at about 180-190Hz, or - better - a notch filter at 114Hz, or - best - both (in that case, you can back off the high pass a bit, say about 100-120Hz). High passing is generally a good idea for every vocal recording. The notch filter is a surgical tool and needs to be precisely tuned for each recording (if needed at all), but since every room has its own characteristic resonances, it's pretty safe to bet that every recording in that room will have the same nasty booming resonances around 114Hz, unless you dramatically change the room content.

Another great video. I am right now in the process of uploading a 'review' of Wulflund's Turold Viking sword on my channel. (Apples / Oranges)

I am confused, aren't dusacks supposed to be at least a little curved?

rasnac A lot are (I would guess the majority), some aren't.

Then, what exactly separetes a dussack like this one from other types of straight swords with complex hilts and guards, like a backsword etc.? What makes this a "dussack"?
@Gloin797 жыл бұрын
sword names are vague, everything with a thicker spine is technically a backsword

They are shorter. Dussacks/Messers are ancestors of infantry hangers and cutlasses ;)

What's the purpose of buying a weapon that you will only drill with and not spar with? When you can get something that does both?

I'm hunting high and low for a dussack that I could use in HEMA sparring or tournament. I'd really hoped that these guys might have the goods. Any other suggestions of where to look?

Good job mate. These reviews help as I am in the market to get swords right now. I am currently in the process of working on some video reviews. Thank you and hope to see more cool stuff you got.
