I just got my S6 saber. The handling is absolutely amazing, especially if you aren't particularly strong. I always felt like I was fighting against the sword when using the Easton. The S6 is only 50g lighter than the Easton but feels so much more agile and controllable. My biggest criticism is its durability. I noticed a few dents on both the false edge and the edge of the cup after a single light sparring session. The dents weren't deep but they had sharp edges. This makes me think that they might not be suitable for heavy sparring against heavier sabers. But luckily, I only do saber casually and I don't expect to do any heavy sparring with it.

Doesn't the knuckle bow get in the way with a cup hilt? Or can you just buy a cup hilt and slot it over a Thibault rapier?

Here is about the three weights of Boken, just like the three weights of katana. <kzbin.info/www/bejne/pna2enqVYrmHgMksi=N4A0mA3RpzeQ6-h2>
@brentpieczynski25 күн бұрын
The Katana is an easily drawn court sword, with bastard dynamics involving both single-hand and two-handed cuts. While the earlier battlefield sword well before the Edo period, would be likened to a longsword. The sabre versus a katana, with the second hand or even choice of the short sword or equivalent dagger. If the handle is longer for a counterbalance because of wood content, then the sabre has metal content for a change of balance. While the sabre wielder, keeps the second hand behind the back, Just like the bastard nature of a long sword, that can one hand with an off-hand buckler, similar to a katana, or two-handed like a katana. So not two-handed, but a long sword, might be a closer to correct comparison to the katana. And certain katana only have enough room for a hand at the end, like a hand-and-a-half sword. Because like light broken, medium weight broken, and heavy broken, those Katana also come in different weights.

The F1 feder has a 30cm long handle (including the pommel), which is quite average for a 95cm blade feder. SIGI and Ensifer swords with the same blade length, for example, have handles at 29 and 31cm, respectively. You can't really call it short. So, is the problem you're feeling more in the weight distribution?

I basically did this to a fencer from another club...he focus on the upper guard and completely miss the lower cut....got him simultaneously on both inner tighs. I made him a believer on the virtues of the two swords lol

The thing about Thibault that confuses me the most is that even though you hold the sword in a right angle, the Thibault's rapier is swept hilt with really large gaps. Wouldn't it make the hand vulnerable to stabs? Other Destreza styles prefer closed hilts, why doesn't Thibault?

I thought that for Thibault grip you do everything you said, but rest the thumb on the inside quillon. I've been calling what you have shown as pinched grip (cuz you pinch the blade). Are the two that I'm mentioning variations in Thibault rapier, so it's all good, or am I a bit confused (with smallsword for example, where you pinch the quillon block)?

@@LondonLongsword It was just a video idea, think you’ve done a video with a longsword but not with a rapier. I know they will (kind of) be the same cuts but what would be the difference with a rapier. Like I myself have done Fendentes and high Tondos (some more successfully than others) but have never seen the need/opportunity for a Montante.

Is this academy is focusing to improve the student’s skills or just to teach them stuff and just get paid? The first one deserves to get paid for but there’s schools or places that just teach and get paid careless if the students actually learned something

Hey, Dave! Excellent video as usual. Just curious if there's any way to obtain the shirt you're wearing? (Not the specific one, but that design lol). I know there's a London Longsword Academy Redbubble page, and I like the designs there, but I vastly prefer the simple elegance of the pig skull and swords on black with no text. I've seen you and a number of (I presume) your students in this version, but I can't seem to find it available anywhere on the internet. I'd buy one immediately if they're for sale somewhere. Cheers, mate!
