Being a young gay man growing up in a tiny village in the 80s. I was desperate to leave home and find acceptance. This song spoke so directly to my experience, it was and still is such an anthem for anyone who feels different or that they don’t belong somehow. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I think we can all agree that the original should be, in theory, untouchable. However, The Knocks and Perfume Genius have achieved the impossible here as this version is truly FANTASTIC. The vocals are even more charged with lust and longing, and the production is so subtle yet so contemporary and danceable that I can't stop shaking my ass every time I hear it. A truly classy, elegant and loving homage to a gorgeous classic. Obsessed.

All the good bits in this are the same as the original track. All the new bits in this are mediocre. All the best bits in the original track have been removed or clipped. Heartbreaking to see this done to such an iconic track. The original cannot be bettered by some imitators. No one can live up to JS's unique voice. Sorry.

Like the remix, don't like the video at all. I think it's a missed opportunity not to make a modernized version of the 1984 music video. A frontal view of the lives of gay people outside of big cities today (and all LGBTQI people as well).
