I'm 54 and I have been on anti psycs for 24 years and I was discharged from the mental health department for missing an appointment that I actually attended but they had given me the wrong date so I was told to go home and they would send me another appointment and 3 weeks later I got a letter telling me that I was discharged, I'm still on the meds twelve years later and I have been completely unsupervised and I have had 9 referrals to the mental health department and they have all been ignored, it's criminal what they do to us!!!.

When I was a new officer at Full Sutton, Wayne was on the hospital wing due to his mental health. I spoke to him at his door for about an hour. He was haunted by people he had hurt, he also said he had killed people and wanted to get it off his chest. He wasn’t a well man, but very polite and seemed genuinely distraught for the life he had led. We had a good chat and a cup of tea. I remember that still, all those years ago. It was mid 90s if I recall.

mid 80's-i worked in a bar called southsides, tower bridge road - some new faces turned up,spending hundreds,if not thousands of pounds i later found out two of the blokes were wayne hurran and paul tiernan - they were celebrating the release of one of their friends from prison - they left, blimey, who were they?. two mins later they came steaming back in, one of them jumped over the bar, where i was, picked up a tea towel and started cleaning glasses." i work here mate,ok". i thought ok.i later found out his name was, tony. there was another one called frank.the police were outside all the time the blokes were in southsides (watching the place) the old bill bundled into the bar, after the blokes had ran back inside.they wanted to know who was who.i was called to the kitchen and asked who was who - i said i'm the barman with my mate tony (he's a new member of staff). i was in the kitchen and one of the blokes (paul tiernan) started to get really aggressive with the police and picked up a knife and started to brandish it about swearing and shouting at the police.i thought fucking hell - it's going to kick off - the police decided to leave - i couldn't believe it - the old bill just fucked off. over the next few months these blokes became regulars spending thousands - they even had a birthday party for an older lady at southsides.i was sorry to hear about wayne - i didn't really know him - he was one of the blokes that livened up the bar for a few months.a bloke called solly nahome owned the bar at this time - years later i heard he'd been shot dead.

MY mum used to get Electric Shock Treatment and was in and out of mental hospitals since from before I was born and would still be going in and out of them now if there were any mental health institutions left in this F'in shit-hole of a country. Prison has become the only answer to the mental health CRISES and it's getting worse by the hour. The vast majority of prisoners in there are not criminals they are, in many cases people who can't survive on their own and do strange stuff. They should be treated accordingly and given the meds they desperately need, and not put into an environment based on violence, intimidation, drugs, and bullying. I have been out for 9years now but I have found it exactly the same out here, they won't assess me, and I am treated like a cont. I feel that they are deliberately trying to wind me up. I have had thoughts of killing others since I can remember, and I have begged them for a proper assessment and diagnosis, I am 61yrs and they have managed to get 'The Crisis Team' to call me 2 weeks ago and see if I needed a food parcel. The old liquid cosh. I got put on it 2001 because I had an uncharacteristic violent outburst. I tried to explain that I was under massive stress and that I had no prior history of violence and I was genuinely ashamed of my behaviour but the court ordered me to undergo treatment or go to prison. Obviously, I chose treatment. The largactil left me so out of it that I couldn't do my job so I begged to be taken off it. It took me losing the job I loved and 2 years before I was finally off the stuff. I hardly have any memory of those 2 years. I missed out on my daughter growing up in that time. I was there for her but not there at the same time. It made her wary of me because I didn't respond like a dad should during that time. I thought I was but kids know when someone's not right. It took a few years for her to trust me again. It's not that I did her any harm, in fact I tried to do the opposite but I guess for her, it was like her dad had been replaced by an exact replica for 2 years.
