Thank you for taking the time to make these videos, they are invaluable to a beginner like myself. My question is, does the embouchure change according to the genre of music a saxophonist will play. Eg: classical or pop or jazz? Sincere regards, Dave.

My pleasure Harry! Thank you for watching and really happy these tips are helping you. I would say you could narrow it down to two types of embouchure: classical embouchure and non-classical embouchure. The non-classical includes jazz and all other genres I would say. The main difference is that in classical music you need more control hence the embouchure is a bit more firm. But in modern music you need to be more loose and flexible so the sound can vibrate more. Does this make sense at all? If you are a beginner you are safe with the classical embouchure. As you progress it will be easier to transition into a more loose embouchure😀 let me know how it goes.
