I tend to wonder if anyone that thinks this is an expensive tent actually camps. $600 is really a bargain for what you get, and being cheap for not a lot of savings tends to cost more in the end. As a Versys owner in particular, this is hands down the most versatile tent out there for practically any application. I'm a bigger guy also so I wouldn't think twice about strapping this level of comfort and convenience to a backpack for a hike. I also have a Helinox Cot Max with leg extensions and a Chair One XL. Don't take for granted what relaxation and rest actually provides you, especially after 6-12 hours of riding. I'm an Eagle Scout and a veteran, so the idea that this is for base camps and multi night stays seems to be blown wildly out of proportion. Even if it took 10 minutes longer to teardown than an average 2 person tent, it doesn't, you're going save at least that much time cooking with protection from wind/rain. You mentioned one of the best features, taking out the internal part, which I don't think gets enough appreciation. You can turn this into a garage to work on your bike. This tent is so useful and comfortable, it's more like glamping than camping. Thanks for the succinct review. I don't have any affiliation to Lone Rider, other than a love of their products and the team behind it.

On both my trips to the USA I have been to Joshua Tree. One of my favourite places. I’d love to be there now. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺

Get yourself an awning kit for it, or maybe even two or three. So good when it is raining or cooking sun to sit in the vestibule and still be able to look around.

Your spot on at the end of the video. Its for those who base camp or ride big bikes then camp. NOT For those that adv ride bdr type trails then camp. I was out at a adv rally in the Mojave desert and saw what the treacherous winds did to a LR tent. Ride safe.

I was at a bike weekend last week and there was one Lone Rider tent there. It looked stupid amongst the other tents there towering above the assorted other tents. It looked like a nightmare to put up single handed. The owner later said that he was looking for something more suitable for his trip to Norway later in the year. It’s a great example of the power of KZbin advertising. Lone Rider gave a lot of high profile influencers this tent and it very quickly became seen as the preferred choice by the experts. This is so far from the truth. If you really want a Lone Rider tent buy the small one, it is far more fit for purpose but beware, even that one is overpriced there are better tents out there for less. If you are one of those motorcyclists who has to have the correct badge on everything buy Lone Rider. If not buy something cheaper and better.

Lone Rider just had a competion, look it up here on KZbin. Who could set up a MotoTent quickest. Single handed, of course. The winners clocked in at 2:41, 2:56 and 3:20. I have no rush, so i typically do it in 8 to 10 minutes. And if i do it in rain, the inside is bone dry. Not a nightmare at all. I have both the MotoTent and the ADVtent. I typically use the large one when i stay in one place for days, and the smaller one where i move about. I lived in the MotoTent for three months traveling around USA. If i had not had the luxury of space, especially height, i would have stayed in more hotels. I even took the bike indoors for an oil change at a fancy camp ground. Who cares if it stands out on the camp ground.

Other than the cost, and it being hard to set up in the wind, are there any other cons you’ve experienced?

No other cons it’s a good tent. I just used it last weekend in the rain and it held up great.

I dont like that it says lone rider on the side seems like a rob me sign

That's why you bring the snipers in the area sign and stake it down outside your tent.

I'm not from the US, so Lone Rider interprets as Stop-for-a-chat-and-I'll-put-the-kettle-on. In the unlikely event the person has a gun he/she is shooting possums or feral pigs or goats, so you tell them Well Done.

I am sorry but a simple tarp shelter, plus a lightweight bike cover plus whatever tent or Hamic suits your needs will cost less take up way less space and be more versatile. This is a huge waste of money that would be better spent on gas to get it better destinations
