A quick side-by-side comparison of these two popular amp simulators running straight into Audacity on my computer (well, with a DI box, the Behringer Xenyx mixer and the Behringer Vintage Delay, so kinda not so straight actually, point is, there's no amp, lol). Playing the Bone Daddy Akai shown at the beginning. The Joyo is $40 new, you can get 'em for $20 used, the Harp Attack is about $200. I DO like the Harp Attack better - rounder, more "organic" sound, probably due to the onboard wee little tube its got. The Joyo is a little gainier, a little more synthetic. But man, if you're strapped for cash, and want to travel light and play straight into the PA the Joyo will get you veeeeery close to the Harp Attack for about 1/5th the cheddar. What do you think? Settings for both as per the photos.

When I heard about the American Sound pedal, I kept an eye out for a used one and got it. Still trying it with an amp to get the settings right, but took a screenshot of your settings. I know you can use the same mic and harp and get nowhere near the same sound, but at least it's an idea. I know I've written this before, but this is the stuff I need to hear before I drop big money - you are giving people a much needed guide to things and letting them make up their mind. I wouldn't have bought a Lone Wolf product, as they are even more expensive. The Jason Ricci microphone alone is $500 here in Australia. The Hohner HB52 will do me - that was just over $200 here, though I did buy a King Bee Mic from Bone Daddy and I'm happy with that. I like small mics - was never going to buy a Green Bullet just because of its reputation as I like everything to feel good so I can concentrate on using the instrument itself and that mic is quite large, I believe. I like to feel like the mic and harp are one thing, as opposed to feel I'm juggling - otherwiset, I'd join the circus (if they'd have me back, that is) - did you know petrol is flammable ? We live and learn....

No, it's not. I was curious, tho - I'll probably sell it again at some point, lol. It's good, you know, but is it THAT much better than the Joyo?

Hello Tim, what's the purpose of the VD400 before the Joyo and HarpAttack. Is it for tone fattening? Thanks
@Tim48103

Yeah, it's just a wee bit of slap back, which for me, makes the tone a little fatter.

@@Tim48103 Have you ever tried a phaser instead of the delay? I tried an Helix phaser (set to smooth) with speed all the way off, depth all the way up, mix after 12 o clock. It seems to me that i get a fatter tone.

@@alessandrom1024 no, never tried one - I started using this delay, or one like it, probably 30 years ago.... never branched out much. The exception would be these amp simulators in the video - normally I'd play thru an actual amp, but with my duo, we're moving to smaller and smaller venues where an amp, turned up to where it breaks up and sounds good, would also break windows. Sooooo.... necessity required looking at things like the Harp Attack where I could get an acceptable tone at low volumes.
