This was a real treat. Somehow I haven't heard of this actor before. So suave and reminded somewhat of Melvyn Douglas. I adore Ida Lupino. Love her in another great classic The Sea Wolf with John Garfield.

Warren William was 45 years old in this film, Ida Lupino 21 years old. Not well-matched as a loving couple - 24 years age difference. But the line from Warren William “Sometimes I wish I weren’t old enough to be her father” somehow gets around that issue!

You sound like you have good knowledge of classics, so perhaps you know of the love song, "Key Largo" by one hit wonder Bertie Higgins. Even without the song; the feeling and imagery of a great love affair brought on by the names "Bogie and Bacall" was iconic for four decades at least. For 10 or 20 years that song, "Key Largo" was probably second only to The Carpenters, "We've Only Just Begun" for love songs played at weddings. Which brings us to the punch line- This "Bogie and Bacall" half-century icon of great love affairs began in 1943 during the filming of their also iconic film together, "To Have and Have Not"- when Lauren Bacall was 19 years old and Humphrey Bogart was 47. "...Here's lookin' at you Kid, missin' all the things we did. We can find it once again, I know- Just like they did in Key Largo."
