@dsmoovest2 жыл бұрын
I'm even considering it for my buggy backyard! I usually buy the citronella torches, which don't work well if several aren't burning simultaneously. I'm thrilled that this may replace messy repellent sprays or lotions when guests visit. We're near a creek and our area is, now, inundated with mosquitoes that feed during the day and evening. Fun times.

I don't believe so. It is made from a chrasthamum extract and has no deet or poisons in it. Plus the likelihood of this is extremely low. I pop it next to me while eating all the time with no issues.

Hi there, I was wondering it's April 1, 2023 my daughter and grandbaby is two years old are getting ate up by mosquitoes they live behind a canal in Florida. So in your recommendations what would you suggest me to buy for my family. Boy I sure hope you give me an answer I know you probably read a lot of comments

My personal favorite is the MR 300 with the scent pads and the butane but a lot of homeowners prefer a USB rechargeable version. I now use the Thermacell E55 on my patio and it works great. No need for butane cartridges and the liquid cartridges last up to 40 hrs! Here's the link if you want to check it out. amzn.to/3zsakbo

what are the main diff between the Radius and the Patio Shield? the Pros and Cons i guess
@LoneCrowAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Radius: USB charge (no butane), use of fluid filled cartridges. Pro, don't have to buy butane, con once the battery dies you can't run it while charging. Con, must keep track of cartridge cap if you are planning to only use a portion of the cartridge. Patio Shield: butane cylinder powered, use of scent pads. Pro, unlimited run time (just switch the butane cylinders), no need to charge. Con, have to buy butane cylinders to power unit. Hope that helps. Personally I prefer the butane cylinders but they do have a recurring cost over time.

This is a great thermacell. I really like this model
@bisonrodeo85065 жыл бұрын
Thermcells work great. I have the standard one with the pads but the radius seems way more convenient. Bugs get burned on the outside of the regular one in fish fly season.
@sarahoflonecrowadventures94935 жыл бұрын
I also have the thermocell with the pads and butane. I agree I find bugs get disgustingly fried on top of it and I've had strange brown goo come out. Dont ask me what that was all about. I definitely like the radius better if nothing else the corpse count is lower
@LoneCrowAdventures5 жыл бұрын
I had three walking sticks stuck to the outside of my traditional theramcall last year in the Ozarks! the grate gets hot and you have to wait for it to cool down as well. I like the radius much better in terms of convenience. So far no bugs have gotten stuck to it at all!
@gottagetta14 жыл бұрын

Do you know of any hack to refill the cartridges yourself? New ones are very hard to find in Canada these days
@LoneCrowAdventures4 жыл бұрын
No unfortunately I do not. I don't believe you can buy the serum itself. Too bad. Supply chain issues these days on so many things.

There are people that have gently twisted and pulled straight up on the wick and refill cartridge with permethrin with great results

That there is the sticking point for me. I’m not keen of buying something that has throw away plastic cartridges.
@mountaingoater29895 жыл бұрын
Those cateridges look like they would last for a long time. I would be worried about them getting broken though. The plastic on the outside looks a bit thin and if I was stored under something heavy if it cracked it might leak out or spill. Any problem with the cateridges breaking (the plastic I mean?)

The old ThermaCells got hot and I was nervous about using them in the tent. Will this one heat up the same way as the traditional ThermaCell? It doesn’t look like it has a steel grate like the other one.
@LoneCrowAdventures5 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't use this in a tent specifically but in a bug house or mesh house it would be great. Probably too powerful for the tent.
@dementiatoolsnow84213 жыл бұрын
I don't think you'd need to use them in a tent unless you had a floorless tent or some type of tent that got mosquitoes into it. Just make sure to zip up your zippers to keep bugs out.

That is one of the bad things about that model. I'll be posting a video next week on a better model with a butane fuel source. Stay tuned.

Does anyone know if the device indicates when the liquid cartridge is empty?
@LoneCrowAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Yes, when the cartridge is empty the device can still be turned on, so you have to monitor the fill level of the cartridge when the time gets close. The ignition and the fuel wick are two seperate functions. Hope that answers your question.

@LoneCrowAdventures4 жыл бұрын
It does work well for bug protection. One thing to think about is bringing a power block and remembering to charge it. We brought it out this weekend and forgot to charge but we had a battery bank and were able to charge it quickly to get it running. Bad black flies this weekend and it performed extremely well controlling.
