I've watched quite a few reviews on Steinbeck literature as well as other books I've also liked. So far you are the only one that understood the book to mean what I felt it meant at the end. I was worried when you mentioned about right from the start you get this feeling that it will be a tragic story, but then you elaborated. Many many people I speak to do not understand or get the idea of the significance of George killing Lenny out of love, some sort of bond, and also an understanding that Lenny was not to blame, he was what was referred to as you say "retarded", and only through George is Lenny able to live as normal as possible. Steinbeck always is very symbolic, absolutely a pleasure to read or listen to an unabridged audio book. I think you did a great job, I've read the book, well, let's just say more than one or two times, as well as saw movies based on it. The one with Gary Senise is best. Thank you for being a young person and reading these important works.
