earth is not overpopulated. people are made to fill the earth and multiply. however, the reason why people feel so lonely even though the population of the world is higher than ever is because there is no more localism. this is because of the 'monstrous impersonality of the majority.' for example, most people live in cities, and even though people brush by each other all the time, the amount of personal relationships is so much smaller than the amount of impersonal moments when a people run into each other everyday. if you don't live in a small community (back in the day some kind of tribe/clan) you don't matter at all to thousands of people. also, the industrial revolution removed basic life and work from the home and smaller communities. most of the work is in cities and suburban areas, where many people coexist, but they don't relate personally, since everyone is focused on their own thing. this 'monstrous impersonality of the majority' is also seen in the internet. you can instantly communicate through online messages with people far away, making the reward of real, in-person interaction more difficult and less desirable. the reason why there still so many incels and so many women is because of hypergamy; a small group of the most powerful, rich, physically competent men get a large group of the best women. this is because women always seek a higher partner. unfortunately, men can't do anything to destroy hypergamy, so we must compete and beat other people at their own game.

in my opinion it's because of many factors but most importantly, because we stopped relying on each other for survival, technology fills that role for most things now, also the way cities are built (atleast in North America) where residential and recreative areas are just so far away from each other.
