Slow and steady. Good way to learn. Once you have finished your apprenticeship you'll be a fine bricklayer. One note though. When laying across steel always keep mortar to a minimum because it will always crack there due to freeze/thaw cycles and will eventually fall out. Dry is the best way but depending on the brick you may need a little in front or back but not a full bed.

@@GingerDust69 I hear you buddy, I've had those times as well, but there enlies the dilemma, if life were easy you wouldn't appreciate the good times as it would be the "norm" and would grow boring, so in order to really get the most out of the good calm times you have go through the bad, the ugly and the redundant. Such is life.

how long are those joists. That designs we dont have in our country. I would assume they would be far cheaper than Solid timber about 6 inch thick all round and hopefully much stronger. I need to cover an expanse of 22 feet wide, roughly 7 meters.

I find it odd in the UK you lay a bed of mortar over the lintel. Here in Australia we lay them dry over lentils no bed only the perps. surely the lime in the mix must contribute to lintel failure Eg Rust great video
