He just wants a two bedroom house but in reality there’s a 10 year waiting list with people that have far more priority than him and it doesn’t help that we don’t have enough social housing to help a gentleman like this. I just want a palace with 40 rooms we can’t always have what we want and if you’re not paying for it why should the state have to pick up the bill because you can’t put a condom on?

I dunno if I'm being judgy but sort of agree, I always wonder why you'd have loads of kids if you weren't financially stable?! Each to their own I guess

The children don't live with you, so you are not entitled to 2 bedrooms.. You will end up being taken to court and the council will be very prepared to tell the judge that you have not made any efforts to better your situation and housing law will support the councils argument, if you were to be offered a 2 bed then, as long as you are paying the current rent with no arrrears "as you will be charged bedroom tax for the empty room" then maybe the council should concider being flexible in the matter.. good luck with it fella, but I don't think digging in will get you what you WANT rather than what you NEED.

The kids mom already have a house with enough bedrooms. If parents split up the council can't afford to give both parents 3 bedroom houses. Thats not their responsibility

I think if the children are living with their mum , the council don’t have a onus to accommodate this gentleman with a property that caters for his children as they don’t make up part of his household and unless he’s got a court order saying he has shared custody he is not going to get what he thinks he should have , not saying it’s right but in the grand scheme of the housing shortage it seems to make sense

That's assuming the mother is even in the picture. She may have died, or simply left him with the kids. She may even have an addiction problem and he by necessity has full custody. She could be in another country and not been granted domicile for some reason.

There's a shortage of social housing so best to take what they offer you for now. Then at a later date apply for other properties. They will force you to move eventually anyway because that block has to be demolished. You could end up homeless if you don't take what is offered.

So there is a single family man in the entire building and the council are disappointingly offering a family man undesirable property that does suitable for his children's needs.
