cornshucker77 I agree, however I hold “Once Upon A Time In The West” very close to my heart as far as western movies are concerned. Also I feel that “Centennial” is a far better novel than Lonesome Dove. I do wish that they would remake it into a mini series that can do that wonderful piece of literature justice.

Wow...that was stunning to hear about the sequence of events that take place, along with the determination and courage involved with bringing this type of project to fruition. One of my most favorite western stories would never have made it to the screen if not for a spunky, feisty Mowtown executive named Suzanne de Passe. I would never have guessed it. This was a very stirring account of what she had to go through. Thank you so much, Miss de Passe, and thanks again, Rob, for once again bringing us the story behind the story.

suzanne; thank-you for your persistence; the film industry would have missed out on this one of a kind classic. my all time western favorites have always been shane & high noon until this film. i never thought i would get the feeling from a western from those two until lonesome dove came along. it's as though the feeling i got; i lived that era. i could not see one part of that flick that was weak or boring. i can't even guess the times i've watched it; what a master piece. thank-you again DARLIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lonesome Dove isn't just my favorite Western, it's my favorite miniseries of all time. After I watched it three or two times, I bought the book and devoured that! As of this date, I've probably watched LD about a dozen times, and fall in love with it all over again. The script was superior, the actors became their characters, the plot was gripping, yet times of refreshing rest stopped my heart from exploding in angst. I laughed and I wept, I gasped in horror a time or two, and I dissolved into tears when it ended. It was an emotional roller coaster for me, and it remains my most beloved series of all times, bar none. It's my entertainment gold standard, and none has matched its perfection. I think I'll go watch it now, or at least gnaw off a portion before I go to bed! Thanks for this tribute, and thanks for the reminder to see it "one more time".

Thank you Rob for the entire interview! The fascination and love affair folk have with Lonesome Dove is exemplified here. While Suzanne is speaking, you could hear a pin drop! You've had guests relate stories, funny anecdotes, on set memories, etc., but here Suzanne is really speaking more on the "nuts & bolts" of how LD came to be... yet every one of your guests present were so interested in every word about LD that it's as if their collective breaths were on hold! Thank you again; your work is the best!

Lonesome Dove is the greatest western of all time. Once I learned that the show was based off of two cattle partners from Parker and Palo Pinto Counties Texas (Charles Goodnight and Oliver Loving) along Charles Goodnight’s trusted friend and right hand cowboy Bose Ikard also from Weatherford, Texas I researched our Texas and County History on Charles Goodnight, Oliver Loving, and Bose Ikard. The Lonesome Dove movie was really heart touching as well as learning about the real cowboys who helped make Texas the great State that it is. I still continue to binge watch Lonesome Dove after all three years and never get bored with it. Makes me wish that I could have worked with and rode along with Charles Goodnight, Oliver Loving, and Bose Ikard on their Cattle Drives. Thank You for bringing us such a great epic movie that will live as long as those who continue to carry and covet the spirit of the American Western Frontier.

Many descendants still live in our area. The Buffalo Soldiers were brave and credited with many accomplishments in not only our area but also New Mexico. Their contributions to this Country are huge and yet their story is lost in history. It would be wonderful to see it told.

"Lonesome Dove" is a western that transcends westerns. It's a story about life we can all find our own character in that happens to be set in a western. This was a great 15 minutes. The uncertainty of its success is an interesting backstory I had no idea about. Formatting the tv scheduling to fit inside of 4 days to save face if it was a flop astonishes me.
