Great idea, quieter is always better. One little tip. When you are cutting the tie wraps pull firmly on the tag end putting a little stretch in it. Then make the cut with a flush cutter. That will eliminate that sharp tag end that I guarantee will find a way to cut your hand later.

Get a broom with a hanger on top. Slide the chain guard on the broom all bunched up. Attach a zip tie to chain and broom and slide the chain guard off the broom onto the chain. JOB DONE

Hi I purchased a GX1 winch several years ago and am extremely happy with the unit awesome product. I have the chain guard installed over the chain and have one of the older models of the mud magnet anchors with the swivel and larger size d shackle.Sometimes my anchor comes up upside down. Would you have any idea why and how i can fix this from occurring. Thanks

Hi Arthur, that can happen. Easiest way to prevent that is once the chain starts to come onto the drum put the boat slightly in reverse. This will flip the anchor in the water column and it will come in the right way.
