Hi all.. just a wee negative point, you need to leave your thoughts on the flight on the screen for a little longer.. but apart from that an excellent vid. Firstly Shannon airport, my last trip there was around 10 years ago so hopefully it hasn’t changed too much because if you ever wanted to go BACK in time to enjoy what a 60,s airport was like then go too Shannon, for all the good reasons none of the bad! When there you will see a wide variety of aircraft, the last time I was there there was an RAF Tornado parked away from the terminal and a wide variety of aircraft, the viewing lounge then had a wide viewing angle and large with seating so comfortable for long periods of just watching aircraft. Now to the flight. EI it must be remembered are now part of a large airline amalgamation and although they keep their Irish identity etc they being a very small member of that grouping must do what the corporate “boffins” decide ( I was being very polite there). Am not a great fan of short haul aircraft being utilised for long haul services, they lack the facilities that twin aisle aircraft feature onboard and yes I am very aware of the fiscal aspects but prior to EI being sold off by the Irish Gov ( thankfully never to Ryanair which would have totally ruined it) they had A350 aircraft on order but once they where swallowed up those aircraft went to Iberia and EI where forced to take the A321 as a gesture. In one such grouping it pays to be Spanish lol. I first flew EI in the early 80,s, my route being Belfast to Dublin on a BAC 111 then changed to an EI B747-100, the leg room then was twice at least of what you had, then took off from Dublin landing in Shannon as then it was a Gov regulation that all transatlantic EI aircraft must land at Shannon before continuing to the US and we finally landed in New York. EI have always been famed for the warmth of their cabin crew and the flying qualities of their flight crew, they where in fact the airline who forged transatlantic twin engined Ops across the pond when they did a deal to replace their 747,s with A330. Part of that deal was they flew highly regulated flights to ensure the safe operation of large twin engine aircraft across the Atlantic. Hopefully new long haul aircraft such as the A330 neo or A350 will be ordered to make them more efficient and give their passengers even nicer rides across the pond. You mentioned blankets, there is a simple answer to that and probably not what the airline will tell you Ie it’s a short day time flight. It’s nothing to do with that but everything to do with saving weight which in turn save fuel which in turn makes more profit. During covic a lot of things changed onboard, no inflight magazine now ( it was called Cara). Which gave lots of interesting articles plus airline fleet details etc etc and passed half an hour reading it.. the airline will tell you it’s now all online but the real truth is the same as the blankets, weight saving.

Was the flight smooth or bumpy? I am flying Shannon - Boston in October and have a bit of a flight freight, so hopefully will have an easy one. Thanks for the video!

@@pulover1990 hey thank you so much for the comment, first of all hope you are looking forward to this journey, secondly the flight freight is totally normal and you just need to breathe when you get on the flight, everything will be fine, the flight was smooth for me but turbulence is nothing major to worry about on a long haul flight, just try to relax and enjoy it, thank you for watching

Good video. It's crazy how quick it feels crossing the Atlantic when you fly from Shannon.
