Long bed vs short bed - pros and cons

This was so helpful to me. Been researching researching researching about which camping set-up fits my needs best. First weighed out van options. Then realized truck camping is better fit. Next began learning all about camper and truck options. Truck choice boiled down to choice of flat bed or no, cab size, and all the different bed sizes. Long vs. short. For that step, this video was so useful. Short it is! But not super/compact/extra short.

Good video. To sum it up, if your working you want a long bed, if your having fun then it’s the short bed.

If you live alone, long bed is preferable for it is far more functional.

Haha, my 6.5' with 60 gal+ tool box leaves me with enough room for.....Nadda. Feels more like a trunk. I also had to dent in front wheel well a bit to get the box to fit. 👍💪

At least you got it to fit. I saw a truck the other day and they had a big toolbox like mine and they put it sideways in the bed and it basically took up the whole space.

I'm looking to get a single cab half to a long bed. Should be a good compromise for somebody with no kids or pets.

You can’t park with a long bed:( parking spaces have become a lot shorter and thinner. But the long bed is essential for work

Daily Driving in the city ?? Short Bed for sure ! Circumstances determine the choice !

@@jimmy4x4socal44 I have fourwheel Hawk camper on 1/2 ton 6.4 bed, camper sticks out of the bed about 6 inches. I wanted to replace it with 3/4 ton. Finally went with GMC 2500 HD Regular Cab, long bed. Can install the camper and close tailgate with camper on, very nice to have step built into tailgate. Wheelbase is 142 inches, shortes wheelbase of any GMC 2500 HD trucks. Will miss the room of crew cab, but like the 8 foot bed and short wheelbase.
