I remember sitting in Church as a child listening to this thinking it sounded really good. Now as an adult struggling with alchohol this song means so so much more to me. I'm writing this with tears in my eyes and a guitar in my lap. Thank you God for helping me get this far. Please pray for me. I need all the help I can get.

Brother, you're not alone. Even the Apostles struggled - but just like them, you have been chosen. They did not chose to follow Christ and be Children of God - it was God/Christ Who chose them. Just like them, you have been chosen. If left to us, we'd remain rebels/enemies to God/Christ. But by His grace and mercy we are justified righteous through Christ Jesus atonement (Blood of Christ) of the Just for the unjust and by believing the Word of God is true and the person (God in the flesh (incarnate) and works of Christ (birth, death, burial and resurrection), Faith (trust) in God/Christ (and promises), and Hope (His return and eternal life worshipping Him in His Kingdom). Read Ephesians.. And remember - we were all DEAD in our trespasses and sin - but by and through the person and works of Christ we have been redeemed.

gives me chills, too. i rode that train for awhile around 2007, but couldn't quite take my eyes off the skies... one prayer a couple years later changed everything for me. took awhile, but that was more my own stubbornness when God would present something to me that my sinful, self-righteous heart didn't want to hear. i stuck with God regardless and after 7 years of nonsense i'm finally, FINALLY free from it as of September 2014 and i'm both feeling better now and doing a bit better every day. "cling to the Father and His holy name, and don't go riding on that long black train." i'm 20 by the way.

Paige, go to CHRIST WHO Died that we may get to heaven- believe me, there is a heaven and a hell. That we may be forgiven of all our sins if we make HIM our personal saviour and live a fulfilling, joyful life in HIM- instead of breaking down or despairing when troubles hit us. Seek after HIM and you will be found of HIM- don’t be found on the long black train . For GOD Made CHRIST, WHO never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with GOD through CHRIST. (2 Cor. 5:21, NLT) The day of salvation and surrender to CHRIST is today. Please see 2Corinthians 6:2 2 For HE says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. Also please read Hebrews2:3 reproduced below: 3 How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, dwhich at the first began to be spoken by the LORD, and was confirmed to us by those who heard HIM, Paige, prayerfully read the New Testament and ask GOD to speak to you through the verses . HE Loves you and is waiting with open arms to receive you into HIS kingdom.

I'm totally with you here, I've known this song all my life but as a non religious adult I think it still has a strong political reading- the creep of fascism is attractive to many people in this country and it looks a return to glory for them. The churches will slowly die. But God lives on through the purest expressions of belief and love like this one. I guess there are some that might call me dumb or whatever, but find God and Jesus on your own terms. We'll all see Him one day. Take your time with spirituality, don't ever rush things. Just make sure you take the time to explore. And take the time for yourself as well. Try and keep love in perspective...dogma and other influences easily fog your vision. Doesn't mean you should shut off from the world and sequester yourself in religion, I've seen so many people do it. But just live life in love as much as you can. You'll eventually see some sort of light at the end of the tunnel. God bless.

Love this song! There was a time that I was buying drugs illegally, and doing them as well. Partying, and didn't care. And then on January, 7th, 2011 I was involved in a drug raid while at my now ex-best friend, her brother, and her now ex-boyfriend's house when the NRH TX Police and S.W.A.T. Team busted in. I was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, and my bound was set at 2,500. I made bail the next day, when it came time to appear in Court I was put on a year Probabtion, had to take random drug testing, pay 350 bucks in Court fees, $60 a month, and take a dope class and drug couseling. I started my Proba March, 31st, 2011, and got off March, 31st, 2012. Thank God the Judge dropped my charge from a Felony to a Misdemeanor. But I leaned my lesson. Left that kinda life behind, FOR GOOD! And haven't looked back since! God is good ALL THE TIME! And ALL THE TIME? God is good! Praise Jesus!!! 🛐✡⛪🕍✝🙏📿🙇☝👑.

Give your problems to God and you will be delivered. I asked God to help me quit smoking weed. I was arrested. Granted, that wasnt the solution I wanted. But I'm sober and clear headed now and it's thanks to God I got my feet on solid ground again!

I always enjoy hearing this song & singing along to it. The Coronavirus situation caused the churches in my hometown to shutdown during the summer of this year and during my free time I would play this song over & over again before going to bed. Recently, I got back into the joy of being back at church. I sure do wish that churches all over the world would play this song. Great song with a great spiritual message to it. In times of strife, we all need to, as the lyrics say, cling to the Father and his Holy name. So far, the Coronavirus hasn't got me. Never got infected with it. Praise be to God for keeping me safe from it.

I'm not religious in the slightest but I really like this song. It has a good message.
@marabethf72638 жыл бұрын
This song does not have a good message, because it is about a false teaching, which claims some people will burn in a place called hell, and that they will be in hell with no end.
@tamerativis90518 жыл бұрын
Well Marabeth if this song and God's Word is true then be prepared because there is a hell and It was created for Satan and his angels and those who refuse the Truth of God Almighty and that Truth is His Son Jesus The Christ. If I God's Word is truth then you'd be very foolish not to believe in hell. If I am wrong then nothing lost, but if I am right in my belief then you are on your way to everlasting misery without light or help. Believe on The LORD JESUS and you will be saved. Read the Bible start in the book of John. He was one of Jesus's 12 disciples when He here on this planet.

Josh Turner is a Christian, He (In my eyes) is talking about the conductor of the train being the devil and the train itself is hell. He is saying look to God and he will save you. Sin looks so good but don't fall for it. It is really terrible.
@SnowmanInABlizzard6 жыл бұрын
I agree with you that the driver is the devil, but believe that the train is the thrilling ride that you go on when you choose your own way a sin. The "destination in the middle of nowhere" is the unwanted destination of he//.

i was once on that train. every once in awhile that train stops up front of me tempting me to get on. i might step on but never long enough to ride the ticket master always pulls me off saying "You're on the wrong train son." my riding days are over as of 6 yrs ago on December 28, 2011.
